I know what you mean re: this hobby. I have set myself a 30 1/6 scale figure limit and a total of 100 items in the collection limit. This limit isn't due to money, but more so because I need to have a limit for this stuff and I will sell other figures to accommodate new ones.
I myself haven't managed to bring it down to 30 names, but I'm trimming my lists every so often. Granted, a lot of my wants are utterly unrealistic and will never get made, but still, I want to be around the 100s tops, and trim realistically from there. I've said it before, but for me this is a collection that I want to represent certain bits of my childhood, I don't want to do this forever or go overboard. I'm setting new rules as I go on, to keep it more consistent too.

But yeah, in the end it's not so much the money; if you've spent thousands already it's not the 3 extra figures that'll hurt you. It's just that the more peripheral characters you buy, the less special the others become, and in the end this collection is nothing more than Hasbro for a richer blood.

So far I'm 3/3 for the InArt releases - they've all been characters I love and they've all been awesome. Once Battinson is released for pre-order, I'll likely be in for that too, but I will compare it to the HT version and do a cost analysis e.g. if the InArt costs $200 more but is only 10% better, the HT will be good enough. For me, I am happy to invest in the best versions of the characters that make the top 30.
I've only POed the standard Joker so far, but from the already announced figures I'm in for BaleMan, Paul and Harry Potter. I want an Aragorn too, but I'll wait until a RotK version. I'll hold over until a sequel for a Battinson too. Honestly, seeing the IA Pennywise made me really think about what I want from this collection. He's a character I have no interest in, but the sheer craftsmanship blew me away. These figures are centrepieces, period. And then I look at the majority of HTs based on the plasticky MCU designs, with all the pleather and visible joints and awful stands, and think to myself "is this what I want to spend my money on?". The strength of this scale are the soft goods and headsculpts, so moving forward I'll be trying to stick close to such figures. Some classics, some favourites and I'll get to represent a wide array of interests. I'll make some compromises for some very specific characters and I'll take what I can get, but more or less I'll be sticking by this rule of aesthetics.

i like that they are doing inart, but this pennywise looks alot as the Hot Toys version.
Because it’s the same character? How different can they look….

It comes with a completely different extra head, rooted hair, a completely different base and other than the boat/balloon prop all the extras are different too. This release has more than enough to separate it from HT.

My eye isn't as detailed as some in this hobby, but even I can see there is a big difference in HT's Pennywise and InArt's. It's not only because they are from two different films. InArt's captures the character better. The head was always off on HT's. The clothes can be worked with fairly easily. The head sculpt cannot. I'm glad this isn't a figure I would spend InArt money, but the improvements are glaring. If this was Curry's Pennywise, man, IT would be hard to resist.

look to other movies like batman, superman, thor... every movie other suit :ROFLMAO:
But i mean with "almost the same" that inart, sure they coming with a good or better pennywise then HT did. But why do you come with only a boot and a balloon and ask so much money for it? Because of rooted hair only?

if you look to HT version. sculpt hair, but alot of extras what can be fun to pose with.

im not saying that inart is making a mistake but i mean with it: "if you going for a pennywise that is already on the market by a large company, bring then something extras and not only rooted + pers system"

thats all ;)

I'm genuinely asking, are you new to the hobby?
The addition of real hair on both sculpts is where a lot of the cost is going for this. It pushes the hyper-realism which is the selling point. These are meant as museum pieces. If you want a lot of accessories to play with the figure then yeah, The HT is the better choice for you. But if you are wanting more of an art piece this is where your money goes. HT version looks more like a doll in comparison.

Look at them side by side and you will see immediately that they bring a lot more then just rooted hair and pers. Its night and day.

I don't have any attachment to this character, only seen either movie once and I didn't like the second one at all. I try hard not to buy a figure just because it looks good but this one just looks so good, it's painfully tempting.

Didn't really care for the films first one was the best out of the two but ultimately not really something I want personally. Though if I was to get one figure of pennywise from HT or Inart it will obviously be this one just the work put into it is amazing. Funny how this clown got full rooted hair for his single release instead of a more popular clown (which got a two pack instead) Joker "cough". Lol

The difference is pretty obvious. Quality, weathering and accuracy on the outfit, proportions of the figure itself from head to toe and accuracy of the sculpt.

Easy way to view Hot Toys version as a more stylized "generic" version of what you saw on screen, where's Inart clearly took more time and attention towards getting the figure to actually look closer to 1/1 of how he looked.

I'm with you there re: childhood. The other 70 items in my collection are things like Masterpiece size Optimus Prime and Megatron from G1, the soon to be released NECA TMNT Turtle Wagon with the four turtles and Shredder, Robotech mecha, a bunch of 1/12 comic and Anime/manga figures etc.

I'm a long time Stephen King fan having read all of his books (although he isn't as consistently good anymore), so Pennywise is a great representation of his work, although Salem's Lot is my long-time favourite.

I'll be in for Paul (I've always loved classic sci-fi including Dune) and BaleMan (my favourite movie Batman), while Harry Potter will depend on which movie - I'll be in if it's Goblet of Fire, debatable otherwise. I'll be getting Aragorn and Legolas (my favourite LOTR character, and upgrading from the Asmus version), and likely Battinson too, but I'll have to do a quality vs. cost comparison.

no im not new and i know its not a toy item. All i'm saying is there's little difference in my opinion.

looks good but first wait on real pictures of inart one.

I’d love to get this, just for the rooted hair!😮 but unfortunately it’s well out of my price range. I also have the hot toys pennywise so I suppose that’ll do.

You could always sell the HT and put that money towards the InArt. The difference in price would be roughly the cost of one other HT figure. That's what I would do anyways.

that is the best thing to do, but here in Europe its not easy to sell him because you can stil buy him new from stores >.<

PO or on stock used to be sold out fast, but since covid has been the industry seems to have collapsed here in EU

The way I see it is that I'm past caring. Oversaturation, poor products being put out, whatever the case, I'm done. So I know that if I go overboard, I'll regret it, because 10 years from now I'll care even less. So I'm sticking with as frugal representations as possible, based on what sets off my nostalgia the hardest. I was planning a huge X-Men display but, honestly, I hardly care anymore. So considering Cyclops is practically the MC of the franchise, him plus a Phoenix Jean, and then Xavier and Magneto will be more than enough for me. I have too many things I'm interested in to be going deeper. Just a Ghost Rider alone will cost me 1K with how prices are going if they give him his bike. So it's really about choosing the most important bits.

I'm not sure about buying other brands, but these new 1/18 WH40K figures are very tempting. A proper Modular Sanctum Sanctorum and X-Mansion would tempt me too, but I haven't bought any Lego in about a decade, and they don't really put out anything I really "need". I might break down and get the Mezco Doom. But more or less I'm trying to stick to 1/6th only. It's hard enough buying the Omnis when they're going for ~100€ now.

I just hope they branch out more as time goes on. I'd hate for them to turn into HT 2.0 but with them milking DC while HT milks Marvel & SW. They should grab some big name videogame IPs like God Of War, something like Conan, such things. They're raising the game and such pieces shouldn't be wasted on random D-List characters, and I say that as someone who's got a lot of such favourites. Such 500$ tags should be reserved for a Sherlock Holmes and a Dracula, figures with clothing and style plus importance that'd benefit from the "museum" treatment.

Speaking of Warhammer 40k, I'd love a 1/6 figure but I'm sure it will be $$$. The McFarlane ones will do for now - at least we don't have to worry about accurate face sculpts!
