Yeah I guess I give it a pass too but I think it's part of a wider Disney SW problem where everyone/thing gets redeemed, made relatable/sympathetic or elevated regardless of who or what they represent (even a Rancor has feelings too!)

Like OW should have been cornered on Tatooine and a droid appears from nowhere and it's actual R5D4 who saves OW by.... overcoming his bad motivator!:yess::hi5: :clap I mean it's fan service-y but at the same time it's just... I'm not sure what box to put it in.

Like... why Owen exactly, a gruff "**** your dreams and get back to your chores, chump" grouch who has to get BBQ'ed in ANH to let the journey begin?
If it's the Reva scenes with the Lars couple that you specifically want to identify the proper box for, I suggest this one:

Regardless of whether or not the use of Owen (and Beru) in that context was peculiar, the problems with that sequence, and its setup, go way beyond that. From how Reva could've gotten to Tatooine that quickly... to how the merchant guy got to Owen so much sooner than she did... to her unintelligible motivation to kill Luke... to why Tusken Raiders would apparently invade the farms on occasion... to why one of these "Tusken Raiders" would take to chasing a 10-year-old child across the desert...

A whole lotta nonsense, IMO.

Honestly it has to be a generational thing and for me personally I don’t find the rebels vs stormtrooper and flying space ship fights interesting. Idk. What got me hooked was the jedi lore and the pt lightsaber duels . The clones and the droids fighting each other and so on. I respect the ot and it is done better but rots will forever remain my all time fav Star Wars film. Thought this would be blasphemy to say like 5 years ago but I’m seeing that movie rank on the top 5 greatest Star Wars movies of all time and more and more people keep saying the same thing as I am.
Exactly the same boat. I cannot wrap my head around how anyone could find Stormtroopers v Rebels more compelling or interesting than Clones v the CIS/Sith V Jedi.

I agree too, ROTS is a masterpiece and I’m yet to meet anyone nowadays who doesn’t put it in their no. 1 spot.
Oh, get off your high horse - is there any "fact" these days that isn't really just an opinion? :rotfl

Historians will call this period - thanks to social media - the "my opinion is fact" era.:lecture
I really appreciate this. Sometimes this place can become quite the echochamber and these old boys love more than anything to highroad people 🤣

You haven't met anyone??? You really need to get out more lol...

Kidding! It's completely understandable how someone growing up with one movie or trilogy would prefer that to one from 20 years earlier or later. And I for one am all for freedom of choice and freedom of expression in these forums. You do you. Like I always say - everyone has the right to be wrong!

"Leia Organa - a ten year old girl who looks like a seven year old and runs like a three year old."

:rotfl

"Nope, nothing to see here - just a monstrously deformed hobo with two sets of legs wearing a trenchcoat that's several sizes too big. Don't challenge him or report this to your superiors, guys - just carry on with your day like nothing's happening."

:rotfl:rotfl

And I finally got images of Mos Eisley Karen, the funniest SW moment in years!:yess:

Personally was surprised to understand the influence of Monty Python in this series. I mean, that scene from Holy Grail was the first thing I thought of. Then there's the trenchcoat thing.

Mos Eisley Karen meeting young Reva for the first time in Monster's Inc, lol.

Watched Eps 3 and 4 again. Something that I noticed this time is that the T-47 that picks up Kenobi, Tala, and Leia has a different cockpit configuration than the ones on Hoth. Instead of a single canopy that opens front to back the pilot's canopy stays closed while two additional canopies open horizontally to let in additional passengers.

Also Vader comes across as even more of a badass and more in control rewatching those scenes where he's speaking to Reva's hologram and he tells her that he knows why she seeks the position of GI. Also his "perhaps I underestimated you" plays more like he's BSing her to keep stringing her along as opposed to the original claim that Disney just wanted a Legacy character to validate a new "diverse" character.

Obi-Wan whacking a single Stormie four times with a lightsaber before he goes down is even funnier after Tala sends one reeling with a single bare-handed slap, lol.

Reva looking away when Vader snaps the kid's neck has new meaning now.

Reva who cut off an innocent womans hand?
Reva who assisted in killing and stringing up the Jedi hiding on Tatooine
Reva who was gonna torture 10 year old Leia by sticking giant needles into her face?
Reva who was about to murder a 10 y/o Luke?
Reva who probably willingly handed over dozens of innocent children to the Empire and killed many innocent people in the process?

Same Reva?

Yep. The same Reva.

The show was very clear that despite being driven to kill Vader through any means necessary, when push comes to shove she isn't always able to follow through if something triggers her childhood PTSD. Obviously she had no trouble staying in character when an angry Karen started mouthing off to her in public but she couldn't kill Luke and she was obviously all talk with Leia as well.

"Okay kid I'm gonna torture you now so you better talk! I'm pushing the button now...!" *Leia still doesn't talk*
"Okay I'm really gonna turn this thing on!" *pauses* "I'm serious! Not bluffing at all! Here it comes!" *Leia still doesn't talk...*
"Son of a...you're bringing this on yourself kid! I'm warning you...! *still won't push the button*

"My lord someone is calling you, she says it's urgent."
"Oh thank God okay I'll be right there." To Leia: "You got so lucky because I was totally about to do it..." lol

She did turn it on though, she only turned it back off because she got interrupted by Tala. She was gonna torture Leia.

Maybe she was and maybe she wasn't. My point still stands that she clearly didn't want to and was stalling like crazy as the Double Toasted guys humorously pointed out. Of course at the time we all thought it was just Disney being Disney having a villain stall for no reason because they "weren't going to show a child being tortured." But now we know differently. If she didn't care then she could have easily hit the button to briefly inject Leia or whatever that machine did and then dial it back to let her speak. However she couldn't bring herself to injure her at all which makes sense considering what we later learned about her.

But again, maybe she would have gone through with it if she hadn't been interrupted and would have justified it with "you made me do this!" to clear her own conscience. Either way it was obviously a line she didn't want to cross and now we know why.

So much of the show is just laughably entertaining. From the Leia forest chase to Reva’s parkour backflips to the impossible laser checkpoint you can walk around to characters frequently just NOT killing characters for “reasons” to the Inquisitors that do absolutely nothing…

… Ah, it’s such familiar Star Wars content. Loved it.
