I don’t believe Popcultcha have decided yet on what they’re going to do. But I know Sugo are just manually removing the battery tray from the boxes.

Yeah i'm done with Popcultcha after this fiasco. Their communication on the issue has been terrible

While i am not impressed with the way PC have handled it, I learnt from another retailer that the Australian distributor, Ikon, sat on this until the very last minute and now all the retailers are scrambling to try and deal with it - warnings, testing, compliance, communication.

They are the only Aussie retailer that have a statement on their site and seem to be taking the new laws seriously. Just taking the batteries out of the box is not compliant.

The fact that a few are going to be just removing the batteries and basically crossing their fingers is pretty crazy. Unfortunately so much of this came as shocking news to everyone despite the window given. It means that everyone is scrambling and we just have no idea what the protocol is truly going to be from enforcement to punishment. Is customs going to rip open Hot Toys boxes to check the actual compartments themselves? We have no idea and that’s SO frustrating. Until a new figure comes in, we’re going to be sitting on our hands and waiting.

Aren't Popcultcha and Ikon's under pretty much the same ownership and control??

So if true, it is their fault.

The most common item a household has that utilises button cell batteries are car key fobs. And I think all they are doing is putting a warning label/sticker. And it's not like we receive them in any sort of packaging. And no one is going to leave a horrible sticker stuck to their keys long term.

Yeah... this is why i'm going to cancel my PO. It's been way too long and I just don't care for it anymore.

I had forgotten that, yes, I think so, so great point!! The retailer i spoke to use Ikon but not for HT first batch.

If I could get the same price I would change the necessary Hot Toys orders over from Popcultcha to Sugo. But I've never seen a preorder from Sugo better than what I can get from Popculcha (after preorder + 10% discount).

my BD mk85 had not arrived from sideshow, and when i got my concierge to ensure that sideshow ship a brand new and not returned, sideshow actually had the cheek to say this 'they are unable to guarantee if the item to be shipped is a brand new or returned item' and the item might not arrived even after august. how bad is that?

KGHobby sent out the balance invoice today.
I’d forgotten how damn expensive this thing is.m; shipping especially.

Initially, KG only offered the Endgame figures through their Facebook group and you had to request an invoice to place a deposit.
Now I see they’re all just on the site as regular items with that 3% off when paying in full option.

Ah well. At last my Endgame trio will be complete and that will be me done with the MCU baring any especially great live-action X-Men portrayals and Spider-Man villains.

I'm from Australia living abroad. When I hear ridiculous laws like this I think it is really worth going back to a country with such stupidity......

my concern would be that a worker is opening all the packaging up , if any parts drop out or get damaged what come back do you have? also i guess the various tools are removed as well affecting your possible resale price,

I asked Ikon Collectables [the distributer who sells hot toys items in Australia] if they would no longer be allowed to sell hot toys figures within Australia with button batteries, and they said while they had to unlist certain items on their website that weren't compliant with the new laws regarding button batteries, that did say that they're working with hot toys to ensure they can still sell their items in Australia, and all items currently listed on Ikon Collectables website [including the hot toys Avengers Endgame Iron Man Mark LXXXV Battle Damaged figure, and the DX19 Dark Knight Rises Batman figure] will be allowed to be sold in Australia.

The law is annoying for us, but in the grand scheme of things it's a relatively minor one that doesn't really decrease our personal well being.

And for many reasons I much prefer to live in Australia than I would in many others, as there can be some fairly substantial laws present in other major countries that I might find hard to swallow. While Australia might not have some of the financial upsides present in some countries, it also might not have many of their serious downsides either.

Interestingly, the Captain Marvels are still able to be shipped in Australia, even with their copius batteries and light up features. I think we really are only going to know when this guy gets into the country.

Thing is, the button batteries you can buy at supermarkets have just gotten a new clamshell packaging, which in no way shape or form is as protected as a screwed down compartment. Throw in the fact that we're still selling the birthday cards with sound devices that run on button batteries, and all they've needed was a new warning label.

This country is bizarre at times.
