Jedha Backpack Build

I'm considering picking up the Stormtrooper Commander figure so that I can make a custom kyber crystal patrol backpack for him. It would almost certainly be cheaper than buying TK-14056 at this point and gives me something to keep busy with.

I already have a full-size replica of the pack on my wall, so I have plenty of reference material:


I spent the last couple of hours getting the basic shapes put together for the grenade case in Fusion 360. I'm hoping I can get this to a state where I can get it 3D printed.

I was able to get the detonator that hangs off of the shoulder strap modeled. I'm guessing much of this detail will get lost in the printing process but I figured I'd rather have too much detail than too little.

Some of the dimensions have also been bulked up a bit in hopes of making it less fragile at 1:6 scale.

The next part of the pack arrived in the mail today. This is a 1:6 ALICE pack by "soldier story" which is what was used for the bottom portion of the actual prop.

Spent some time building out the frame. I'll probably re-do it once I get the correct glue, but I'm happy with it for a first try.

I'm commissioning these parts to be printed by someone with a 4K resin printer. Here are some pics of the test run - I'm blown away by the level of detail that he was able to achieve with these.

Thanks! I'm building/buying parts to make 4-5 of these while I'm at it. Depending on how the first one turns out and interest I'll probably have a couple of kits and/or finished packs available.

Wow this is so cool! 4k printers really are impressive, mine has made extra parts and pieces so much more efficient and professional looking.

Those are some sort clean looking parts.

Finished assembling v1 of the antenna last night. There are some tweaks I want to do to make the eyelets more subtle and add a topper, but it's such a cool piece even without those.

Got my stormtrooper commander in the other day and actually got a chance to test fit the frame and straps. Just waiting on the 3D prints to arrive in the mail and I'll have everything ready for paint and assembly.

Printed parts came in the mail today!

Got some time this weekend to get the base coats down on everything. Next up is getting the straps worked out and then on to weathering.

That antenna is huge. I haven't put on mine because of the extra height it adds.
