Drax is a tough one, I think they did the best they could at that time as it relates to joints. The only other option I could think of would have been a 'skin' for the tatoos but that isnt really their area. We have seen them try it with elbiws with mixed results.

I think what helps with Drax is how you pose him. I have him posed in a way that mostly hides the seams.
But then, I also don't mind the seams as much. If I wanted a statue, I'd get a statue, you know? (For the record, I have never wanted a statue)
I'd rather have the exposed joints than the rubber skin that seems to inevitably split over time. Although thankfully that has not happened to mine yet, fingers crossed.

yeah, HT can't do seamless well so just keep joints. well sculpted and well placed joints are not eye-sores. Statues exist for those who hate joints.

People who prioritize playing with the figures will claim that the eyesore joints are not eyesores but they are. It surely kills realism. Those same people will claim that doll hair it needed for realism but at the same say seamless joints for realism is not needed.

No, people who buy posable figures and want them to last do not mind well sculpted and incorporated joints. People who buy figures expecting them to be seamless should be buying statues, they are apparently confused about what products they want. Seamless bodies degrade in a short period of time and in the case of HT specifically they tear and crack very quickly, making them useless.

If HT can prove that they have the knowhow and tech to make long lasting, durable seamless bodies then sure, cover them joints. But they seem both incapable and unwilling.

As for doll hair vs sculpted hair, I think it depends entirely on the hairstyle of the character. I prefer sculpted in majority of cases but in some actual doll hair is necessary.

So many ppl have ripped rubber arms etc on Wonder Woman, Thor, Commando Schwarzenegger and others just for the seamless look. It’s fine for collectors who just take the figure out of the box and plop it on the stand never to pose it at all. But if you like to somewhat regularly pose your figures without destroying it in the process, well sculpted expose joints are preferable.

As for rooted hair, agreed sculpted is preferable. But if HT can get to the point where it looks as good as what some of the custom artist do for longer haired characters (like what InArt is doing) then I don’t mind. You get more articulation and you don’t have the hair awkwardly sticking out when you turn the head to the side like Qui-Gon or Dark World Thor. With that said, I do think most of the BW figures could've had sculpted hair, but wasn't it a mandate from Disney or ScarJo originally for her figures to have rooted hair?

Really the thing that bugs me about my own behavior is after opening a figure out of the box, I never touch it again. It makes me wonder if statues are more practical for me. It was different when I was 4, of course there were a lot more firecrackers in the hands and 'compromising' positions...I can only imagine what my mom must have thought back then.

I have never had a seamless arm degrade. I also never seen one of the people claiming the seamless arms degrade over time posting pictures of such degradation. You would expect the forums to be flooded with such pictures if those claims were true. My guess is the people who clearly buy these dolls to play with see seamless arms as a hindrance to their dolly playtime and make up the stories about them degrading. The thing is hot toys will always be a compromise. You won't get extreme articulation from them. People who buy hot toys expecting them to have extreme articulation should be buying action figures, they are apparently confused about what products they want.

You obviously have not been on any facebook collector groups etc there have been TONS of people posting pics of the damaged seamless arms etc.

You think that something doesn't exist just because you haven't seen it yourself? Try googling ht gamora torn elbows for example.


You collect dollies BTW. You like realistic seamless rubber bodies without visible joints? Well, there exist such things. They are life size, designed for realism right down to function and certain lonely men use them for company and 1 on 1 "play time". No ugly joints in sight. You should probably buy those as they are not dollies. For as long as you collect HT I shall point and laugh at the self hating dolly collector who complains that figures are dollies because they have joints.


Now, your dollies are thirsty, back to tea time now.



P.s. Hot Toys figures are action figures. Get over it. Their brand literally says toys. Sorry not .sorry

You're forgetting the hip and shoulder joints that are made of clear plastic, which will inevitably break....

That isn't a flaw, it is a feature! It gives you an excuse to buy the later 2.0 when the 1.0 is broken! see! HT think ahead!

I voted other, I have some gripes with hot toys:

1) Pleather. It doesn’t last. Thankfully there are solutions to pleather peeling like paint. To be fair this isn’t just a hot toys problem as many companies use pleather but it still sucks.

2) Pegs. Why don’t they do what sideshow does and include a wrist peg for every hand? And then a few more just in case? Just lazy and cheap from hot toys.

3) Seamless. They suck at it. Give me ugly joints that will last forever and have actual articulation and won’t fall apart after 1 pose (looking at Arkham Knight Harley). TBLeague makes seamless body have have more articulation than a normal hot toys body, and they will last a lot longer than a hot toys seamless body. I think of Hellboy, who looks great but can just barley get his arm straight out before I feel like I’m about to rip it off, compared to my male TBLeague body that I’m using for a Conan that can move his arms straight up over his head and I have 0 fear it will rip apart. Yes Hellboy looks great but I love posing not just museum pose 100% of the time and nothing else. If hot toys can team up with TBLeague for any figure that needs to be seamless then it would be perfect!

Then there is other stuff, like being 99% Disney focused, the bases with the footprint that they recycle for Star Wars stuff, and flight poles that damage the figure. I’m sure there’s more I’m not thinking of right now. I am aware some of these are nitpicky but hey, this is my opinion.

I still think hot toys is the best 1/6 scale company and only a few unlicensed companies are close (LIM toys and VTS Toys are the only third party companies I like) I’ll still happily collect hot toys and will still happily complain when they do stupid stuff I don’t like.
