I really wish more could have been expanded upon by HT with these for sure.

Right?? I was kinda taken aback, since I was like, “is it supposed to be so pronounced?” But if that’s how they made it, so it is I guess lol

can i join the club? i honestly don't regret making this purchase after having the mars toy in hand. its night and day. my fault for putting faith in a company trying to recast a 10+ year old figure and still getting it wrong

Well now between you two and myself, now I don’t feel like mine is abnormal lol so that’s a plus at least. I gotta say, it’s still, imo, one of the best likenesses HT has done.

Decided to purchase the Mars Toys Joker and modify the sculpt to make a custom museum Joker….

pretty simple mod…
used Acetone to remove the white paint and show clean skin tone..

brown acrylic paint watered down for running effect…

finished off with matte varnish finish…will complete a couple of washes…

I am about to purchase the DX08. Can someone please share what I should be looking for to determine that I am actually getting the DX08 and not the Mars Toys Joker.

My concern is someone putting the Mars Toy into the Hot Toys DX box....

The HT DX jacket and trencher is better tailored, tighter, better fitting and better placed lapels. HT pants are slightly lighter in color. HT iris color is darker. HT tie knot is much better. HT shirt collar is tighter. HT trencher has a place for the flower to mount above the breast pocket, MARS does not.

Some of the details will be very difficult for me to see in photos, though the location of the flower, and the tie knot seem to stand out between the two figures. The smile on the sculpts also seems different? Thanks for the info.

Smile and overall sculpt are an exact copy of HT’s with the differences being in paint application only. There may be some slight distortion in MARS‘ copy though so that might be where some subtle sculpt differences appear.

I think the MARS eyes would be the dead giveaway as far as the head goes.

Now that you mention it the eyes definitely stand out, thanks again.

also, the waistcoat/vest seems to be looser fitting and vertically narrower at the closure than HT if I remember correctly.

The eyes is the tell tale sign for me…Mars toys eyes are blue and bigger pupils compared to the hot toys ….
the body for mars toys also awful compared to the hot toys body…you will be able to pick it up and feel the difference

My custom 89 Museum joker is almost complete….
had a try at making from scratch the bonnet which is quite tricky…
I think it turned out okay for sure..

if anyone knows someone on here that makes the 1/6 purple bonnets please let me know….
