Hey guys,

First, I apologize if I should have asked this in an existing Black Widow thread.

I currently have the Civil War Black Widow figure which I think is very good. That said, there are things about the more recent versions that I think are superior. When I started collecting in 2017 I told myself I would stick to a one figure per character rule (which I have managed thus far to adhere to), so if I get one of the more recent versions of BW I would sell or give away my Civil War version.

Since you guys are so knowledgeable about these figures I hope that some of you could weigh in and let me know which is the OVERALL best Black Widow figure ranging from Civil War to her solo film (and why).

Thanks in advance

I'm a one figure per character (with a few exceptions like Spidey, Cap, Iron Man and Luke Skywalker) and I picked the Endgame version originally and I'm not tempted to replace her with either outfit from her solo movie.
Main considerations:
1. Sculpted hair - I dislike rooted hair
2. Movie - I liked Endgame much more than the solo movie so it is more meaningful to me
3. Outfit - probably not quite as iconic as the black solo outfit, I still like it a lot
4. Quality - new ones are unknown, but Endgame is more than good enough

I’ve got all of the BW figures except for Iron Man 2 and personally if I could only keep one, it would be the Civil War. Generally I prefer sculpted hair but with a bit of gel and patience you can get this one to work plus with sculpted you can be limited in how you move the head. Also CW just had tremendous presence and embodies BW the best. I really like the EG one but something about it doesn’t seem quite right.

Having said that, all of them have their pros and cons and I guess ultimately you have to decide what’s right for you. Avengers one is really good overall, AOU has awful hair, WS is also really solid I like the hair on that one, IW is generally disappointing (awful hair too).

Tough call between Avengers and Civil War for me.

Probably Avengers since that's the first ever Marvel movie I watched and I really like her look there.

It looks very toy-ish. I've not seen one photo where it looks photo realistic. That's ultimately why I passed on it.

I only own one Widow and it's the CW one. Yes, it's got doll hair, but with the proper futzing and patience the results can look astounding.

IMO, the Avengers one. However, the new black suit figure from her solo movie looks amazing, so we'll see!

Like everyone else has said, it comes down to what you value most. For the time range you're considering, I think the CW release is pretty great. I briefly owned it (my first/only BW figure), but sold it off because I didn't like how plain the suit was. The head sculpt on it is absolutely amazing though, from the likeness to the rooted hair. The only newer figure I'd put above it is the solo movie black suit release (mostly for the gold belt/bracers). IW is an interesting alternate look (which doesn't work if you're doing just 1 figurer per character), and EG has sculpted hair that makes the head look toyish/oversized (and the suit has too much red for my taste).

I've preordered the solo movie black suit, but I'll almost certainly pick up the original Avengers head for it. It pales in comparison to the CW likeness, but I really like the short hair look. Sidebar- I'd also rank the original Avengers figure above CW, but that was outside of your time range.

You make good points here.
And yes the CW version is very solid, but there are elements of the solo movie version’s costume (like the shoulder pads) that I like a lot. Its almost like the solo movie figure has combined aspects of the CW outfit with the Endgame suit in some ways.

I've got all except IM2 as well. If the solo suit is similar to the plasticky/rubbery Endgame one (and I feel like it will be), the CW version would probably win on the photorealism front.

BW is my favorite Avenger though so already pre-ordered both white and black suit versions from the solo (gotta have 'em all). What are the chances IM2 would get a re-release that's not so tall?

Bringing this back from the dead. I currently have A1 BW. I also have the third party HS with the long red braid. I'm contemplating buying the CA:WS version...is the suit an upgrade? From a material standpoint it seems to look that way.

Personally I think the WS suit is an upgrade from A1. I like the appearance of the side panels on the WS version better and it looks like the material/fabric is better for posing and would be more durable …I am only speculating on this last point

As much as I enjoyed The Avengers figures at the time, there was a noticeable jump in figure quality a bit after that film.

The Winter Soldier version is definitely better, though at this point anything before Civil War feels a bit dated with how far they've come. I guess if only the suit is the priority than they're okay, but those head sculpts were not great then and have not aged well.

Still feels like you'd want to get as modern a figure as possible if you're spending the money when also factoring in the risks involved with buying older figures in general.

I agree, but I really don't like the all-plasticky look of the new Widows, and the IW is definitely out. So maybe the CW one I guess?

I have to concur about ws bw. That was one of the first 1/6 figs I got, and I still think she looks damn good on the shelf. The sculpted hair looks beautiful, and needed no futzing whatsoever. It helps that WS featured my favorite look for her in general, especially the hair, but the figure itself just works. I think it stays very true to the toned- down comics outfit more than the later, overly complicated suits do. I've never felt the urge to replace her, unlike with a few others (Cap, Iron Man, and Rocket for instance).

The CW version is awesome!
There are a few elements from subsequent versions I wouldn’t mind adding to it but as a stand alone the CW version and that fabric suit is top notch
