It is bloody odd there's no Temuera Morrison sculpt here. He spent 99 percent of the show without the helmet.

I think it's because they didn't want to bump the price up more (it'd be $300 otherwise) and didn't want to invest the time and money on developing a 1/6 head sculpt for the show.

The figure is already a bit of a risk due to divisive fan reaction and because there's some overlap with the Repaint version and even the 1/4 version.

They had to do the figure but they probably just wanted to get it done as quickly and easily as possible.

Risk? Naahhh....come on.....it's BOBA FETT! That's as risk-free as it gets in the action figure world!

BTW....was Boba in the Mando S3 teaser trailer shown at Celebration, or are we just assuming he'll show up?

I haven't seen the trailer.

No "risk" here. The show itself may have been a disappointment to some
(myself included) but that has little to do with the character or the design. I think the figure looks great. Should it include post bacta-treatment head sculpt? Would be nice but as the prices inch further up and the wait between PO and production drags out, we're going to see more once common features like additional portraits, more hands and specific accessories either become a fond memory or an occasional deluxe release.

Not going to be surprised to see yet more variations of Fett in the future (does anyone really think that if he does show up in Mandalorian Season 3 that the outfit won't be tweaked a bit?)

Even a misfire like BOBF can't keep him down. Now if Rodriguez gets a second shot at him, all bets are off.

They already have a head sculpt. It seems weird not to include it.

There's always some risk. I also like this outfit a lot, I don't hate the show, and I really like Temuera Morrison so speaking for myself, I like the figure a great deal.

But the specter of unsold and slow selling Star Wars figures always looms over Hot Toys and what they do. And while the figure will ultimately sell out far down the road, by the time it comes out the show will be at least two years old. A relatively distant memory in a crowded field of new media being churned out constantly. It'll just keep dropping down in priority on collectors' lists.

So I think it makes sense to get it out without a sculpt, make production and manufacturing easier and cheaper, and keep the price down. Aside from motivating people to get the other Fett figures, of course.

They unfortunately weren't going to include the sculpt from The Mandalorian sets as incentive to get people to buy those. And they would still need to produce a 1/6 post Bacta treatment sculpt even with the 1/4 sculpt made. Save time and money, try to get people to buy other figures. Makes sense to me.

They do and they don’t. Their excellent 1/6 heads are pre-bacta tank full of scars. Their excellent 1/4 head is post-bacta tank and would need to be shrunk down to 1/6. They should have access to an amazing 1/6 head but they would just need to do a little work to give it to us. Just baffling to not include it.

Just noticed too, the backpack is different on the BOBF vs the 2 Mando versions. Looks like he did more repairs as the center is different.

Wow, every single detail of the two packs is different. If not for the diagonal plating that seems like it (somehow, vaguely) must be a reference to the repair patch from Mando, I'd think he was supposed to have just completely replaced it between shows.

What risk? The fact that they are making so many of them proves they don't see making the character as a risk. They already have the head sculpt also. Some people are just determined to push their agenda.

The risk of people getting sick of seeing his incompetent, poker face all the time on their precious SW displays. The dollies should be reminded of enjoyable cinematic experience, not frustration from stupid written series.

They don’t have the sculpt in 1/6 to match his appearance with this armor.

I’m trying to be objective and really only talking about how very risk averse Hot Toys is in explaining some seemingly odd decisions.

They likely wanted to give more space between this and the Repaint, but it was dropped so long after the show and with such little fanfare. Quite literally in the shadow of a much anticipated character and figure that was inevitably going to steal the spotlight.

Compared to the Cad Bane release, this feels very minimal effort like they’re just going through the motions. As if it were partly just a contractual obligated release that’s banking on the Boba Fett name to carry it.

That said, it would’ve been nice to get a new 1/6 sculpt but I don’t personally have any real issues with this figure. I like Temuera Morrison a lot in the role, so even without the sculpt I see this as a representation of him which makes it a must have for me.

Maybe this will get released a bit earlier than end of last year since no headsculpt. Hell at this point with how many Bobas they’re making they can just knock out the armor and helmets, and weapons all at once. Should be an overall easy figure for them to make.
Will wait to cancel the throne one until it releases but this one looks to be the winner.
