Did you manage to squeeze the axes in his belt? I could’nt was too afraid of splitting the plastic loops. Glad you like him, looking forward to legolas next
Got all but one in so far. I’ll spend some more time futzing later on.
And yes, having Legolas complete this trio will be icing on the cake.
Still have Gandalf to come, so he’ll be grouped with Frodo and Sam. Shaping up to be a LOTR year!

Some quick shots on the kitchen table. What an absolute winner of a figure! One of those rare “photogenic” ones. So happy with him.

Looks great, see if you can get the helmet down a bit lower, I know the hair makes it want to ride up a bit, but the centre part of it should basically touch the bridge of his nose. Nice first photos though, whats your opinion on Aragorn? It looks to be a good figure, but I’m 50/50 on the sculpt.

Congrats on receiving Gimli. He is one of my favorite figures in the entire collection and not just LOTR!

In your photos, you can see how fantastic Gimli's head sculpt looks. The head sculpt, in particular, is a miniaturized J.R.D. I'm truly hoping that they can eventually revisit Aragorn's sculpt and finally truly capture Viggo M.

Thanks RM! Yep, got the helmet down once I took the head off again to do up the chinstrap. Getting the head back on was kinda stressful and his back pouch came off, so I’ll have to re-glue it. I also got the last axe in too!
I’ll post some more pics in the next day or two.
I personally like the Aragorn figure a lot, keeping in mind he’s the first Asmus Aragorn I’ve owned. I had the old SS one years ago but sold that off to fund some other figures.
To my eyes, it captures Viggo really well. The body poses very nicely and the tailoring and weapons seem up to Asmus’ regular standard.
I kinda rolled the dice on him not really knowing what else was coming out. I was lucky to score Gimli because I thought he had sold out and I’m now really excited for Legolas HD.
Can’t believe it’s LOTR’s 20th this year, but these have been a great way to celebrate 😃

Thank you! Gimli has become an easy favourite in my collection too. I love the weight of the axes, the head sculpt and the beard …”Not the bearrrd!”😆 Asmus totally captured the attitude and presence of JRD for sure. His lines were popping into my head the whole time I was unboxing and setting up.
Viggo does seem to be a hard portrait to truly capture, but I do like the HD version a lot.
Maybe their eventual ROTK version will finally knock it out of the park.
Anyway, props to Asmus. It’s been a while since a figure has instantly wowed me opening the box.

Just wanted to add that collecting 1/6 scale has given me an even greater appreciation for the people who design and create the actual costumes and props for all these characters. Having smaller, (mostly) accurate versions in hand allows you to really explore the details.
Love it.

Great point the intricacies of the dwarf and Rohan armor alone are mind blowing. :clap

Gimli is so good I ended up with two of him; don't think we'll see a fig of him again that is this detailed with accessories.
