The best female sculpt I've ever seen. I'm used to getting these glares from the missus.

Oh yeah thats the patented "I told you to take the trash out last night and now its morning and you're still sitting there, playing Call of Duty like a worthless vegetable!" look. Nailed it :yess:

Holy moly. Guess I was wrong about them keeping this one under wraps for a while yet to avoid spoilers. Hot Toys even revealed the whole damn plot in the description!

Very difficult decisions to be had now between this version and the Wandavision version, but I think this is clearly the superior figure. The Wandavision version is like my one figure pre-order (because it was the last time Sideshow gave me a coupon that worked on something I wanted). If that one actually ships on time I'll likely keep it and consider selling for this one in 2025 or whenever it releases. If it's late I might just let Sideshow go ahead and auto-cancel and wait for this one.

So weird that they note what the deluxe exclusive parts are but the standard also has its own exclusive, the base.

Why do they keep ****ing doing this? Just include the standard base in the "DELUXE" versions, *****ing cheap ****s.
Yup noticed that as well. They did it right with one of the recent Star Wars announcement where they included the standard base with the deluxe and I thought that meant they will finally start to continue doing that.

But nope, it wouldn't be Hot Toys if they didn't make dumb bizarre decisions. Back to having the standard base not included with the deluxe. :ohbfrank:

I think the perfect Wanda figure can be made from this and WV. I love the WV pants more, plus the cape, but the sleeves on this one can hide joints better but it makes her arms look really skinny. I like the frayed look on her top, but it just looks real plasticy but it’s better design wise than the WV top. Frayed butt cape gives it texture that helps the witch vibe for sure.

The figures arms are way too skinny but that's true of the Wandavision figure as well. They need to get away from the barbie doll stick arms and give them a little definition.

Yikes. This one's going to be tough. I prefer the top and the cloak from the Wandavision one but the HS, bottoms, and accessories from the MoM one. Wonder how tough it's going to be to mix and match.

Yeah it's kind of a shame I think. I still absolutely love her look at the end of the series, but that Wanda has been so completely overshadowed by the new darker version that it kinda feels a bit... superfluous now. And I'm struggling to see the point of it.

Nice response. I was probably 70% towards the MOM version, but you sold me the rest :). There's just more going on with the MOM version, and a less bland costume as you also mention. Wired tattered skirt also brings something to the overall look as well.

That deluxe base would be a sweet addition, but not sure if I have the real-estate for it.

I'm guessing that crossed leg pose will be also tough on the material over time. However would be nice to see a closeup and see how the stressed the material is. With a bit of luck they have her in that position in Secret Base for the usual suspects to post some pics and videos.
I just can't get into the WV look myself. It doesn't look witch-y at all and it breaks my immersion. I can't have Dr. Strange in a cloak and robes, and then have the "Scarlet Witch" look like she walked out of some Tron TV reboot. Demonic Wanda works better, even if I end up not getting another one. But I'm rooting for something like this later:

They actually had a version of it in the concept art for WV:

But really, I just want a good costume that screams "witch" and doesn't have any weird pleather or lines or anything else. I'll be getting MOM Wanda as it was her most memorable version to date and it'll be enough in case she never returns (which I doubt) but I'll keep waiting for something like that if I'm going to get another Wanda. I want robes and fabric ala Doctor Strange, no more pleather or a typical coat and corset doubling as a costume.

I avoid actiony poses myself so I was never going to go the cross-legged route, but I am interested in some actual pics from SB too, to see how it looks like "in the flesh".

I don't think this looks very good, the material choices for the outfit make it look very plasticy.
I'll agree there, but unfortunately that holds true with most MCU designs. As for Wanda, I'd argue the MOM version's muted colours help break the plasticy look.

In WV the corset/torso bit looks like the usual pleather, akin to TASM Garfield-Man and the such.

And the same goes for the figure:

It's the basketball effect all over again. In MOM because of the sleeves and muted colours it looks more like regular clothes, but the plasticy look is still there. The collar especially looks pretty bad up close.

In the figure the corset/torso bit looks more like a proper attire than a plastic mold:

But it is true that you can't really escape the plasticy look altogether. For me the WV is full-on plastic, while the MOM one kinda skirts it.

Really, it's not so much on HT as it is on the MCU's costume department. If they are that way on screen, they can't translate them any other way. It's like with their Goblin figure. When I saw it I was let down because it looked like a cheap, plastic mess. But I went back and looked at the film and it's not really their fault. Raimi GG literally was a guy in cheap Power Rangers pajamas that were supposed to be armour but came off as just a rubbery suit. Even the bit where the gloves and gauntlets disconnect and it looks like he's wearing a jacket with sleeves is accurate. So while it looks awful to me, it is screen accurate.

Personally, I can make this version work. I'm not in love with it, but it grew on me through the movie and even if I get my perfect Wanda later, it'll still have a place in my collection.

I don’t see this corrupted, LED-less, capeless version being anymore “definitive” than the WV design. The shattered, torn, corroded costume is great as an evil version of this character but just seems lesser in some ways. (except maybe price). Awesome looking portrait though and the swap out hair is neat.
For me that's why it works better. A character with "Witch" in her codename should look more witchy. I will agree that it's a bit more "story specific" than if someone wanted a more generic Wanda, but in my case it works. I think it comes down to personal preference. I never cared for Wanda as a superhero, because to me magic just doesn't work in a classic capeteam. I never cared much for the Avengers anyhow, or any premiere superhero team. I was always an X-Guy in that regard, and I liked people such as Iron Man solo. Wanda I got into due to her relevance in the Magicsphere of Marvel. So I want a specifically witch-y costume to put next to Strange and the such. So when Strange is dressed with cloaks and robes and belts, and Wanda looks like she stepped out of any random capeshow, it breaks my immersion. Such a style could fit my X-Display, but it remains to be seen how they'll handle her relationship to Magneto and the Mutants, if at all.

I will agree that it's Wanda's "villain variant", so anyone who's not interested in this particular take could go for the WV, or wait for a later look. But in my case, I want a villainous witch. She was too good in MOM and fills a particular role for me to pass on her.

Great sculpt, and I like that they included both hairstyles. I'll likely never used the "swept away" one as it makes the neck area look awkward, but the other one is really neat and hides that part as well. The colour's a bit too light and veers to a sort of dirty blonde. Wanda's been drawn with light brown hair before, but I liked it when it was either dark brown or auburn. She's the SCARLET Witch dammit, why's her hair close to golden?! I can't fault HT here as it's screen accurate, but I had some hope that with all the various shades she changed depending on the lighting in the movie, they'd go for something redder. Her shade's just something that's difficult to capture. It's like IRL red where depending on the shade and lighting it can be orange one minute and light brown the next.

I'm glad they went with sculpted over rooted too. I've been dreading such a thing with their female figures, but it seems they've given up on it. I'll take well-sculpted hair with some flair over the awful Barbie doll hair any day. InArt type rooted hair (which are still unproven) I can see the argument for, but I never got why people wanted dollar-store hair on their high-end 300$ figures. But me I prefer sculpted in general. They can give you a specific style, they don't need maintenance and we're still not at the level where mass-produced figures can look like customs. IA promises to change that, but considering how badly their recent Phoenixoker statue and bust turned out, we'll have to wait and see.

Anyway, I'm pretty pumped. I'm thinking of ways to display her now. I think I'd go for a sort of creepy walk like when she came out of that gong Ring-style (aaaaaand now I'm sad she didn't get an angrier/creepier expression), with some magical effects in her hands, and the Dreamwalking effect behind her to make it look as if she's going all out. I'll keep the Darkhold in storage and see what other Sorcerers I end up amassing. Anyway, I'm waiting for the Secret Base pics to see how the stand works before I daydream more.

I‘m going to get this version instead..better, face expression, better costume, better hair

I know they wanted he frizzy hair for Wanda from the comics but olsen’s face is too round and pudgy on the side like her sisters that it looked like a bad hair day. Glad MoM they toned the curls down

Didn't read the entire essay but that little bit at the start sums it up quite well. The first one looks way too sci-fi and artificial as a costume compared to the MoM version. It looks like it was fabricated in a factory somewhere for her to wear. As if a warehouse machine made it for her. The MoM version looks more organic and witchy. Something that was hand made or crafted out of dark magic.

MoM > WV for sure. First one looks too much like it came out of Party City.

I didn't see movie yet
disappointed there is no cape
and not sure about plastic parts either
everything else is awesome

Right, I'd like to see this figure with the cape. The way it wraps around the front really completes the look. It feels like the design of the outfit was always meant to have that, and it just looks incomplete without it.

So torn here. Almost prefer the Wandavision costume + cape. But the colours look a lot blander on the Wandavision outfit.

Was on the fence and decided to wait for this version to decide for my ultimate Wanda. I think this might need to be it. Depending on deluxe price.

Damn, this new head sculpt is so much better than the Wandavision one. What an improvement!
