Likeness is solid, as is the paint, albeit a little heavy with the white. Still looks really nice, am so glad I didn't waste money on the rooted. As good as those pics are, they are far from high res but are very promising

I kinda agree with you, I feel ripped off tbh. I mean from a paint job point of view they look the same to me. Neither come close to the prototype. I guess the main difference is the hair. Tbh, not to be a downer, but I don't like the sculpted hair on this production piece, as I feel they did a much better job on the prototype. The hair on this looks like noodles on his head to me. Maybe I've just been spoilt by rooted hair sculpts.

In saying that, for the price difference I'd still take this as it's a solid deal, despite the shortcomings with the hair, as everything else is virtually identical. Had Queen priced the rooted hair more fairly I would say no contest as the rooted hair looks loads better, but at it's current price point and based on current photos, I'm not convinced it's worth the cost. I'll try and be a little optimistic until I see it in hand, but I'm less excited than I once was.

At the end of the day, if you ordered the rooted then you have the best version of this piece, but yeah in terms of value for money, that's another argument. I agree the paint has taken a downgrade, that's clear to see unfortunately. I think JND are the only ones that don't have a downgrade in paint in their production pieces. I personally prefer sculpted hair and I think P1 did that the best so far, I like to have it out of the box looking as intended instead of futzing, but that's just personal preference. Queen definitely changed the hair sculpt of this one. Everything else looks great so I will wait for mine to arrive before I lament any changes too much lol

:D

I wonder what the deleted post said? Lol

TBH I do see a difference in the paint quality, the rooted has less white but I actually prefer the sculpted, going off the pics above :D the rooted seems more rough and less quality, without seeing them side by side

I'll let you guys handle the worry and nit-picks,I'm happy with how they've both turned out,I can see past the washed out look these photos,I've got both on order, and I'm gunna enjoy the hell out of these when they're in hand

Normally I expect a downgrade in paint, but not when they charge a premium because the artist supposedly painted it. It's supposed to be as good as the prototype if that's the case.

I guess I'll find out once I receive it in hand.

This is what I wrote on the other forum which I think would have been great:

A good outcome for queen would have been for them to match the proto paint on the rooted, and us sculpted can settle for the slightly worse paint displayed on both production versions. They have to see why people are p!ssed now

I exactly. I didn't expect nor want the sculpted to have a poor paint job as that wouldn't be fair for anyone who ordered the sculpted. I simply expected the rooted to match the prototype (or at least very close to it), and for the sculpted to naturally be a step below (but still very good). I would really like them to post professional photos of the 2 side by side.

Yep, rather than just expecting us to take their word that they are different paint jobs

There is such a GIGANTIC downgrade in paint on both versions compared to their prototype that I can't even tell if the sculpt is the same. The mass produced pieces look awful compared to the prototypes. I'm pissed. I've seen super high level customizations of this piece, total repaint and rehair and they still don't look nearly as good as the protoypes. I don't know why maybe the sculpt has totally changed.

Are you talking about queen? The sculpt looks identical to me, the paint is just nowhere near as detailed

I am very pleased with how the sculpted has turned out. Still one of the best Ledger Joker statues, if not the best in terms of likeness. I'm ready to get this one in hand.

Another artist edition unboxing:

I wonder if there is shoulder and elbow articulation because if not they lowered the right hand position (the hand that you put the grenade ring around his thumb). In the protoype you can see that the tip of his thumb is above his nose:

On the mass produced version the tip of his thumb is below his mouth:

I'm not sure if there were changes made elsewhere, possibly to how much the head is angled down or how much it protrudes from his body but I haven't seen a single mass produced photo or video that comes close to matching the sinister vibe of the production piece:

Those last pics look really good. There looks like a little more skin tone showing through with the artist's edition, if I had to guess. Be interesting to see side by side pics eventually

Damn, that looks amazing!! Cannot wait to receive this, those close ups......so freaking good!

At least they nailed the hair colour on the rooted, the sculpted looks very flat in colour
