Congrats and enjoy. With all of the new spideys coming out spending 1k+ on the 2010 takes some thought for sure. I was thinking of purchasing him last month then decided to pass. I'm sure I'll get the itch to look possibly purchasing him sometime this year lol.

Yeah it's pretty clear that this is the best Spidey out there. Paying premium sucks.. I was hoping to quench my urge with newer ones but they were just not doing it for me. I canceled the new PF the day before my first flex payment. Just couldn't do it.

Hopefully you can catch a good deal on him.

Good luck to both of you. I hope you are both fortunate enough to secure this COM for your collections. Royce, I admire the fact that you knew that the new PF just wasn't right for you. It's very easy to settle on a piece when peeps miss out on an older statue they really like and it's going for over a G in the aftermarket. I own the original COM and passed on the new PF. I think the new PF is incredibly dynamic and looks great but there's something about the iconic pose of the OG COM that completely hooks me. I personally think you can't go wrong with either, but like you, I love the semi-museum pose of the COM. It fits my collection perfectly.

The one thing I will say is that if you guys do decide to pick up the COM, you won't be disappointed. It's truly a magnificent piece in every way. Just be prepared for the sheer size of this piece. It's a little bigger than 1/4 scale so this is an imposing statue. I can honestly say though, after all these years of owning it (I bought it direct from SSC), the COM still amazes me to this day. It has never gotten old or dated for me personally. That's why I consider it the quintessential Spidey statue and it'll always be in my collection.

Not sure how CLEAR it is. All have their strong suits IMO. I can't specifically single one out as a CLEAR winner unless you count being limited and being expensive as hell the winner.

I think both the new PF and the COM look great. The only SSC Spidey I can say I really don't like is the original PF. That one just does nothing for me personally.

Yeah, I mean if your saying that personally you don't care for it I understand. I am just saying it's difficult to call one a clear winner when each have specific personalities the other can't capture. I think even though the first could have been executed a little differently "sans cloth" and fully sculpted it was a cool pose with the camera etc. I feel it would have been much more desirable if it had been FS.

Got my Spidey and YES.. This checks all the boxes that the newer comiquette was missing for me. Love it.

Thanks.. Finally I understand all the high praise. It really kills any desire for any other Spidey statue for me. Such a classic Spider-Man looks and pose. Love the size as well.

I've still got my eye on the new PF. It looks great, some don't like the base but I think it's ok. I'll probably wait to see if there's any leaning issues after it's in collectors hands for a couple months.

Even if the new one matches the proto and has no issues, I still may favor the comiquette.

The new one looks amazing. I was all in for the pre-order. If my collection was of figures in more dynamic poses I would have been more than happy with that one. This one is unique in that it's a neutral action pose.. If that makes any sense. Fits perfectly with my collection that's still mostly 1/4 figures.

I thought about buying the new one just for future trades.

at 1% interest not really.

Sideshow's inflation index is a lot higher than any other commodity I've seen (except for Gold)

compounds at almost 13% per year

makes my $1200 worth of points worth less than they should be

Ok, maybe not the bank but there's better ways to 'invest' than overproduced Sideshow Statues.

Just because their prices are rising rapidly has no bearing on the aftermarket price of older pieces, not here anyway.
I very rarely see a piece sell for more than it costs, outside of much older sought after pieces due to their limited production.

Just my opinion, his money to do with what he wishes.

Absolutely better investments, right now toys in general are a booming business not just for Sideshow

but the Superhero fad is starting to over saturate the market place for collectibles

I do know one thing, I much more enjoy looking at and posing my statue, comicbook and figure collections each night significantly better than staring at my Scottrade and fidelity accounts online. Much more pleasing on the eyes and brain haha :)
There has to be some additional value to that! Cheers.

That's exactly why I only buy what I love to look at/display :D
