Mark Rolston was on with the Critical Drinker and one of the questions is why haven't Neca made a Drake figure. Mark said that Neca reached out and offered him a very paltry amount whilst Jenette Goldstein was paid well. He asked for the same amount and they declined.

Just found the video but I haven't watched it yet.

Consider me dismayed if this is true.

edit - alright it's at 2:03:43

edit 2 - dammit, video was removed

I'm saddened to hear that, the Drake character is just as important as Vasquez in my opinion. Randy's got to sort it out pronto! We need these two Smartgunners together!

I hope Randy will go back to the table on that. Hopefully it was just a timing thing - NECA couldn't at that time budget in a likeness fee equivalent to Jennette Goldstein's but maybe down the road a bit they could. I dunno.

Disappointing though because, no matter what, it means a Drake figure is still a long way off. And what does it mean for others like Gorman? Did Ricco Ross and Paul Reiser accept much lower offers that enabled those figures to be made?

It's a good question and I don't like the thought of having to wait and wait and wait. I was hoping to put together a diorama, I still have a spare Vasquez w/ Smart Gun in its original packaging just waiting.

Hi, this is my Aliens custom diorama.

That's impressive! How did you make that flame effect?
Thank you!
I made the flames with light clay for kids for the inner shape, then rolled a Led Cob strip around it and glued cotton scraps on the outside.

For Predator we'll probably just see the Ultimate Lost Hunters lined up, maybe the Predator from the new film if they're allowed.

Nothing from Terminator.

They'll have the Robocop stuff we've already seen.

Yeah, I'm expecting a very underwhelming show on the Aliens & Robots front. I'm prepared for more Turtles, Gargoyles and Horror domination.

I miss the SDCC teases we use to get from Randy on twitter. Since he slowed down the excitement from SDCC hasn't been there.

I'm glad they got a big money making line for them in TMNT, but I wish they would use that money for other licenses too.

This is what I don't get for a situation like Rolston's - if you walk away, you have zero money. If you take less money than you'd like, you have much more money than zero money. What does he stand to gain? He's going to pass on his only likely role to make money on for licensing? If you don't want dolls of you, fine, it's weird, but I get it, personal preference, but if it's the money you want... How many more times are you planning to be approached and from who else?
Reiser seems like a cool guy. Between stranger things and the boys recently, he seems like he understands "the culture". Ross, Henn, Goldstein, Biehn, even Weaver have always been willing to cash in, seemingly still happy and proud of their time with the film. Even Cameron!

What does he have to lose? Sign here, get a check for doing nothing, we send you a free one to give to your kid in the mail. Don't even have to leave the house.

Probably plenty of things i'm not privy to, but the matter is frustrating. No one gets anything out of it because he wants more money or his pride was simply hurt.

I want an Apone thrice as bad as a Drake, but Matthews wasn't into it. I can accept that. I respect and fear that man. Any Nam combat vet gets my reverence.

I want to shake my swear jar at Rolston in anger, however.

Just give em a bit of cash and get me my Drake limited edition at let's say $45-$50. Hell, make it a smartgunner double pack for a $100, I don't care. There are plenty of options to move costs to the consumer side of things. In this particular case I'm ready, just give me a good sculpt and don't mess up his amulets of smth.

Drake and Apone are the final missing pieces in the Aliens line. Apone is easy to customize and Drake is just too much hassle so... give me factory made Drake at a premium

Well, I want them all but at a minimum I'd add Gorman. I wonder where William Hope would stand on the matter.

And this is if NECA is even still interested now that they've got huge moneymakers that they don't need actor likeness rights for such as the Turtles cartoon line.

Gorman is relatively easy to make. You need Jim Carry from Kick Ass (neca) and hs from ready_line on instagram. Mix them together and paint the body olive green.

btw I'm not saying I don't need that guy.. All I'm saying is Drake is the hardest to customize at this point

Literally nothing I'm excited about from this round of Q & A. The best news is that the Back to the Future line isn't over ''yet''....and even that sounds suspicious.
