I think that while there was a rather big update between the first release and the Armory version, which I have, I don't see an equal quantum leap in overall detailing and like many have already posted, don't see the need to pick this one up as a replacement.

There are definitely some things that I like but not worth the expense. BUT, for someone coming onboard, this will definitely look great on display (as does my Armory version, with a replacement cape...) :wink1:

I'm so psyched to get this. Have most of the Snyderverse Batmen, so decided to extend it to cover my favourite classic Batmen. Here is the planned lineup.

Tactical JL Batfleck is in the main JL lineup, so not included here.

Am assuming we will get a Keaton Batman at some point. Either from The Flash movie or perhaps if Queen do an original 89 Batman, either way I think I'll get the chance.

That is going to be one slick looking "Bats" display, Hoody!

What no pre-nipple Batman?

I made the HUGE mistake of watching some of the SS video to get a sense of how good/bad the figure looked. It was one of the most cringe worthy things I have ever seen. Never again.

It's not that I disagree, my striving for as close to perfection is towards JND. Because I want realistic portraits and real materials etc. I think I've come to understand, due to very little we know in the R+D and technicalities for making these figures, but I've no doubt in my mind that some decisions are as an affect due to articulations, due to the scale and also just due to artistic interpretation, and probably a combination of it all. There isn't ever going to be a spot on 1/6 figure, there just isn't. So for me then it comes down to well is it close enough... and yeah this is.

I understand it's frustrating in other areas, for example cowl shape or something similar - why can't it be nailed? I don't know, got to be some reason, I really find it hard to believe that they don't have good technical artists in this aspect. But even companies like JND at a much larger scale and being able to afford better materials without worry of articulation still get aspects wrong. These are artistic toys, it's fun to analyse every single aspect, and as much to a certain degree I understand an annoyance of not hitting enough of a perfection for some people... well, like I said, can't see the forest through the trees (lol got it the wrong way 'round earlier).

Guess it comes down to point of view. For me, scale, articulation etc. with what we get from most of these toys at the price they are, I'm not really going to complain. Thing's like likeness etc. sure, but other than that, nah. I'll venture elsewhere for a more realistic interpretation.

Completely disagree with underwhelming and uninspired. Again, we've been in this for a long while, we're used to seeing a lot, and not a lot has changed. You can argue the same thing with video games now, for example I find the majority of them boring and lacking in comparison to 10 years ago. My hayday of gaming was the bridge from PS2 to Xbox 360 and some extent just after that, all of the big graphical changes and technical changes were very noticeable, very wow. Now hardly any of it is noticeable, doesn't mean great stuff isn't coming out. We're just used to it, been in the game too long my friend.

And just to touch upon again, with Inart they're creating a new market. Consider then a next gen upgrade as a console. You'll see minor upgrades like rooted hair and unarticulated arms with magnets, but at the expense of being more. Anyway, shame we can't all see things with brand new eyes.

Ill use a game comparison...

DX19 is like a “remake” of a decades old game. Nicer graphics, great gameplay but has some leftover, 10 year old archaic game design that holds it back from being a smash hit. In fact, some of that design is a detriment to the overall package.

Instead of improving upon questionable design choices, the developers didn’t bother. All they did was give the game a face lift. Sure the argument can be had where it’s a “remake” of an old game, so the game engine should stay the same.

...ok? So that means they couldn’t have addressed game design issues that plagued the original? Rather than spend resources and streamline certain elements to make for a more enjoyable experience, they opted to just throw more graphics at the game and call it a day. Core game is still fun...but it could’ve been SO MUCH BETTER.

That in my opinion...is an UNINSPIRED and UNDERWHELMING remake.

Which is essentially what this figure is to me.

I wonder how sales are considering Hot Toys and Sideshow resort to these pretentious product demo videos? Is this a relatively new practice. This was never a thing back in the day, it was always those cool blogger pics and first hand shots. The fact that they need to hype these things up in live streams and three part videos make me wonder if the interest just isn’t what it used to be and maybe people are reluctant to buy $300 that are just “okay”.

Love how the narrator is like “NEW BODY AND SUIT DESIGN FOR MAXIMUM POSING” and it’s just shot after shot of him doing the Captain Morgan barrel leg. I mean Christ, atleast pose him a bit. Those Sideshow dudes did the same thing in the vid yesterday. Just one plain vanilla pose with him with the EMP gun.
Honestly, this thing just struck me as a completely reactionary attempt to reframe the narrative about Hot Toys’ profound lack of communication over the decades in the wake of the “reveal” videos that companies like Queen and JND have started doing.

That's exactly what it seems like.

It’s nothing like that. Instagram and other social sites are openly moving to prioritize short format video content and it often gets better reach than image posts. Hot Toys is likely just trying to game the algorithms as best they can. That’s also why they’ve been posting so many animated videos of still photos.

Yeah, they've been doing this for awhile now. Not sure why. Does it look more exciting on your phone? Do kids buy more things if they wiggle? I should try to sell my avatar as an NFT.
No, for IG specifically their leadership has public ally said they’re no longer a photo sharing site and they want to compete with TikTok so they’re purposefully extending the reach of video content vs photos. That’s why you will see a lot of “influencers” now only have videos on their feeds.

I can’t imagine owning a DX12 and having an issue with THIS cowl?
I have issues with both. I don't think either looks bad they just look sort of strange to me

Something I hadn't considered until somebody brought it up in this thread is that some of us have been here for every iteration of this suit that HT has put out, spent so much time dissecting and comparing it to the source material, modding our figures over and over again. I don't think we are saying they didn't make improvements each time, it's just with how much time has passed and considering the amount of times they've tried to make this figure you'd think the improvements would be more substantial.
