Wait shouldn’t preordering opening again be a good thing since more people get the figure?

This will be the last time I touch on the subject of re-listing because I personally want to move on from it:

So far all I’m seeing over at the FB groups such as OSR and QS/IA...it’s the same 2-3 people that keep spamming their complaint about the re-listing. The great thing about it is, everyone else don’t give a $#!t about it and are calling those whiny b*****s out.

Just as I figured...it’s a very vocal minority desperately trying to blow things out of proportion, foolishly hoping others will join their...”cause”.

On onesixthscaleman’s panel yesterday, one of the regulars willfoxification had the best, reasonable AND diplomatic approach to it when another member, I think his name was sixth scale mafia, explained his side of why he had issues with the re-listing:

At first it was because the 3 day window was needless pressure and his cousin who already had plans to spend money elsewhere, paid in full for the deluxe joker from a vendor...will and other panel members said “he should’ve picked a different vendor because most people just put down an NRD” or something to that effect.

Like many of us here feel, it’s not an issue with the PO window...it’s selection of vendor.

THEN mafia mentioned exclusivity and will kindly pointed it out to him and said “ok now it seems like moving of goal posts. Originally it was pressure, now it’s exclusivity”.

My one hope from that panel is mafia learned and opened his eyes. I hope others with a similar mindset that watched it have done the same.

This hobby should be fun. If anyone out there is feeling any kind of anger, pressure or other negative feelings about collecting...maybe they should find a new hobby. A persons happiness and mental health are way more important than plastic and fabric.

Finally...QS/IA need to start ignoring future complaints about the re-listing.

Just to make it clear from the beginning: people whining about re-listing of an item which was never meant to be limited, is absolutely ridiculous. That's also my sentiments exactly.

But denying the human obsession for exclusivity and rarity in general, that really makes me wonder. It's not a bad or good thing. But it's there since ages.

You should start a separate thread complaining about these people and just that mentality in general. I would but I dont have social media.

That innate obsession just translates to good old fashioned greed or elitism. I really don’t see any other way to view it in this context.

People either salivated over the prospect of owner something limited because the secondary market value would be huge or they just want to feel special for having acquired a toy that only a few can have.
That sort of mentality and drive to be in the top tier is more acceptable in competitive fields like sports but ,for owning a product, it’s just sad.

Maybe you can attribute an element of historical relevance to this Joker being the very first of a supposed ‘new age of 1:6 collectibles’ but even that doesn’t excuse the behaviour.

It certainly doesn’t put it on par with actual, unique items of importance and scarcity that people may want to own. Even those are primarily sort after as status symbols- like Vince McMahon’s T-Rex Skull that’s mounted on his office wall. Mere mortals have resin statues but the billionaire club can afford the real deal.

My original 1st day PO of Joker is so much better than your 2-week later 2nd version "reopen" PO.

:nana:
And you have to have your original PO timestamped email for verification as your Certificate of Authenticity. haha. I PO'd right off rip as I wanted the figure. Other folks able to get the figure a day before eventual release makes no matter to me. We all here to have a good time. Am I right? Goodness. haha

Good post.

I criticize his behavior, but not his motive. I don't know if people can differentiate.

If elitism makes life of some people happier, I don't have a problem with that. It's not like I can't collect what I like because of them.

Good grief I just want the damn figure to be good. I don’t care how many are made.

Maybe they could slap a sticker on the box that says “first three days” to make everyone happy. Take a screenshot of when your order was placed and frame it behind the figure in your detolf.

Regarding the figure, I was looking at the grand money shot image the other day, and it made me feel some nostalgia for when the DX11 had just gone up for preorder. That was a fun time. It’s nice to have that again.

Even the purple base. Nice.

One thing that irks me though - is that InArt seemingly used the Dark Knight Rises logo on the display base and not the Dark Knight one.

Not a dealbreaker, but it’s a bit disappointing.

You’re not wrong about that innate desire...it’s just the behavior when you got folks doing such disgusting $#!t like “QS you lied! Betrayal! I want muh refund!”...

I’m like...yo, relax.

Really funny. It's like chess. It's getting checked until it's finally checkmate and their real reason gets exposed.

At that point why bother hiding behind “QS lied to us” excuse right? It’s like...Just come out and say “I don’t want more people having what I have”

Nah I’m good haha. XD I don’t need to spend anymore of my time on $#!t like that lol!

I appreciate that sports analogy. I like to watch esports, especially for fighting games. If a player wins the grand finals and receives that trophy with his/her name on it, it’s a one of a kind. Its belongs exclusively to them. It’s something that person worked HARD for. They can brag about it (and will be met with eye rolls of course), they can proudly display it, they’ll be remembered for it for a long time.

What kind of pride does one gain from an exclusive toy? I can sense the pride if that person made it themself..but if I plopped $1500 on a pair of socks...do I get an award for it?

....but you went out to dinner when POs went live. You were a few hours behind most of us...

So my 1st day...FIRST FEW hours PO version is WAY better than whatever POS you’re getting....

=P

Oh man...the only nostalgia I feel was when the DX01 and DX02 were revealed.

I was like OMG moving eyes?! Batman’s mouths can be changed??? Holy f*** look at tall of those accessories!!

That excitement can never be re-lived as I feel that was a major leap forward in sixth scale and hasn’t been replicated since. I may not feel that excitement for QS/IA version of the joker...but I AM ecstatic that we’re getting an amazing looking figure with new advancements in figure design.
