Except the whistle hasn't been universally mocked for how ridiculous it was, so definitely NOT the same. There may be similarity of intent, but definitely not in the writing & execution of those two scenes lol...
It wont be universally mocked because it is Marvel....alot of content banged out lately has been Average. All the comedy it this show was a pity really...characters having banter and jokes while in the middle of fighting. It's all just so vanilla.

I loved seeing seeing the blip and return from the perspective of someone who got snapped.

Watching people get dusted never seems to lose its impact no matter how many times they do it.
And seeing that
Spoiler Spoiler:
retroactively gave Natasha's sacrifice even more emotional depth.

Good thing that

And now
Spoiler Spoiler:

I assume that when Clint's wife looked at the back of the watch that that was some sort of Easter Egg? Can anyone enlighten me because it totally went over my head, lol.

Yep. Absolutely Disneyfied and Plot-holed thought it was. Given Yelena's resumé I would assume she would maim him at long range to disable him, then interrogate/kill him slowly. Sans Disneyfication she would have been standing over him while some random limb or two were shattered, shredded or burned to a useless state. Widows are well-trained and cold. I can't see her risking losing to a target of such high personal value, all other professional considerations aside.

Of course, this is me Captain Obvious-ing. The MCU is built on convenient tropes.

Yes but we know from the Black Widow movie that she's free of the mind control and is making her own decisions, so it stands to reason she would be at least slightly less lethal in this situation. She'd been manipulated her entire life, so taking out Nat's best friend without confirming the facts doesn't track.

I'm not sure; she seemed pretty hellbent on killing him dead and presumably didn't know (which I find questionable but hey -- convenient trope) they were besties until he whistled.

The only reason I would assume she didn't drop him dead with a sniper rifle was that she wanted it to be personal so he'd know who was killing him and why.

And speaking of Yelena, Florence Pugh with her hair down good lord... :drool :thud:
Ok then I will ask for this HT one last time

I'm fine with either explanation as well as Yelena being a big softie who is mostly talk. She is a good guy after all.

Plus after she warned Kate to stay out of her way she repeatedly refrained from making any lethal attacks against her when she disobeyed. Hell she didn't even retaliate to Kate's slap.

Yeah, while I'm glad Yelena was in the show it didn't make sense to me that she'd buy Val's story about Hawkeye being the reason Nat was dead. Heck, there was a frakking MUSICAL about the original Avengers and it was common knowledge that they were responsible for bringing back half of life in the universe (including Yelena herself) - how do you factor that in and STILL conclude that Clint's a bad dude who should be eliminated? My interpretation is that Yelena took the contract because she needed an outlet for her anger over Nat's death, but then the more she saw Clint in action (especially with Kate), the more she questioned herself. Hence the face-to-face battles vs. taking him out with a sniper rifle.

Well, Kate did the really cool ... over-hand ... thing.
