Only problem I had with KP was that they made him a super soldier he literally ripped a door off a car with one hand lol

On Netflix he was strong but in this he literally has Cap level strength!

If they were going to do that they should’ve used his design from the animated movie with ginormous body and pea head lol

Watched this yesterday. I really enjoyed this series; it was definitely short, but maybe that worked to its advantage.

Spoiler Spoiler:

All in all, enjoyed the show, the characters - with the exception of the track suit dorks - and would like to see more of Hawkeye and Hawkeve/Hawkshot going forward. Oh, and I still can’t figure out how Echo could carry her own show without some major fan favorite supporting cast.

Great breakdown.

Regarding the Clint/Yelena fight, consider re-watching the show with the context that Hawkeye is worn-out, burnt-out, and a wreck, physically and emotionally. He has survivor's guilt over Natasha's death. He knows who Yelena is, and understands why she's there. He very likely wants her forgiveness. He needs it. The last thing he wants is to beat her in a fight.

Yeah, but I think the recent MCU cast is better than what they used to do, like OMG, who thought Jeremy Renner would make a good Hawkeye. I bought his HT Endgame just to complete the set of Avengers.
He did a damn fine job, not sure what you're complaining about

.

The whole fight with Yelena and Clint, I need to watch it again. But was Clint really just beat up by her? This is an issue I have with these newbie characters - not that they are women, not that they aren’t white, etc - but why is someone who is just introduced and positioned to be “the next gen” just immediately capable of being on-par or besting characters that have earned their spot. Hawkeye has kinda shoveled **** throughout these movies as being the running joke of “what does he really contribute” and he gets his own show to be in the spotlight, I want to absolutely see Hawkeye killing it.
What a bizarre non complaint. You mean the same Clint who knew who she was and why she was upset? Clint never once tried to fight back or throw a punch. He quite literally stood there and let her wail on him. At one point he even calmly (and rather easily might I add) deflected a blow, spun her around, got behind her and completely restrained her just to talk to her. Like you would do an annoying little sister who is throwing a tantrum. She beat him up because he was purposely doing nothing. Not because he was chumped in combat

Hawkeye has fought in fights way above his level throughout the films. Held his own against aliens, threw away his bow and went close quarters against Ultron bots with just arrows in melee, and took on outriders in a cramped tunnel with a sword in endgame. And him being that good has transitioned here just fine. What are you talking about. As for the show you may need to rewatch it again. Clint is consistently displayed as top level fighter and near unstoppable with a bow in his hand. This was seen in episode 3. In episode 4, the way he rather easily got yelena in a headlock (where she was audibly struggling) and easily tossing her out of his way to shoot a grapple line all the while talking to Kate calmly in the roof top fight.... I got the impression Clint is slightly over Yelena in h2h. Sure she could land hits through sheer skill but she never struck me that she could be dominant with him. And in episode 5 as Ronin, Clint while obviously holding back, took out all the tracksuits and beat Maya. Clint has been killing it all show.

Overall, Hawkeye is my favorite of the MCU shows. Probably at the top of all of MCU content. Perhaps it may just be that my expectations were low considering the other MCU shows, and this one being about ... well, it's Hawkeye, right? "The lame Avenger"??

But man, this show was what I thought all the other MCU shows were going to be about. Spending time with these characters and getting to understand them. All the other shows didn't hit the mark for one reason or another. And in fairness, I think the premise of this show is lower stakes, so maybe it didn't have as big of shoes to fill. But either way, it achieved what it set out to do.

There were three key scenes for me that really stuck out in this show, that really sort of encapsulate what was going on, or what this show was about
  • Hawkeye adjusting his hearing aid, while reliving all those battles he was in, with the explosions, hence his hearing loss
  • The scenes of him relaxing, adjusting the ice packs
  • Kate's speech to him, explaining why she looks up to him, why she's following in his footsteps
Overall, it legitimized Hawkeye and Kate Bishop. Speaking of, I only had a tangential understanding of who Hailee Steinfeld was. I thought she was sort on the Ariana Grande/Demi Lovato tier, like former Disney star/singer turned actress, so I was surprised by what I thought were moments of brilliance in her performance. But then I realized she was the one who had her fist big starring role in True Grit, and even back then she was earning accolades for holding her own with Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon, so then I was kinda like "oh yeah, she is actually very good at her job, they didn't just hire her because she was the next, young, popular female star"

Yes. The other scene that really made it for me was when his little boy Nate was on the phone and Clint couldn’t hear him so Kate helped out, lots of depth and chemistry between the two.

I didn't realize that was her in True Grit. Of the more recent Coen films, that was one of the better ones.

To me this show is the best of the Disney shows. The writing seemed more natural with the characters and the cast all had really good chemistry. I liked the fact that Hawkeye was very protective of his family but also Kate as soon as events unfolded. To me this shows why he is a hero even though at first he never saw himself that way. Kate's speech about his influence was great and when she told him to go home to his family when he called her partner and said her mess was his as well showed his respect to her and how far she has come. Kingpin and Maya were handled well and I am hoping to see more of both of them in Echo's show. Yelena was cool and her banter with Kate was humorous but like she was also taking on a big sister role since she lost that bond with Natasha dying. I agree the Hawkeye wasn't fighting back because he understood Yelena's loss and was still dealing with guilt as well. I hope more of the show's take this route rather than forcing in agenda arcs that don't fit right.

Aswell as True Grit I also remember her from The Edge of Seventeen which was a pretty good film if memory serves.

edit - and no way, she was the girl in the Bumblebee movie. I preferred that over most of the main Transformers movies.

Just binged the entire series, holy crap what a Marvel Christmas! I freaking loved it!

Loved Kate, loved Yelena, I think I liked Hawkeye more in this than in any of the films, loved the humor, loved the trick arrows, the LARPers, the freaking owl (lol!) and of course the return of Kingpin!! :rock
