I don't have an Aragorn - yet (waiting on King Elessar or a Black Gate version) - so I didn't enter this out of respect for those who do have an Aragorn. I really hope you guys get this in before the end of the year. Been a long time coming.

While I 100% agree that if people created shell accounts to get the free sword that was wrong and I would probably be just as upset about it as you are if I did not make the list, I don’t think anyone can demand Asmus “fix” a free gift giveaway because they didn’t have to do it in the first place and they are doing it for free. I would suggest asking them nicely maybe through pm or email. It’s worth a shot maybe they made an extra or two.
I agree. There was bound to be fake accounts being made when the give away happened, most likely by ppl who just want to flip it. Just like there used to be (and probably still are) tons of scalpers who don't even collect figures, waiting in line to get the SDCC exclusives just to flip. I think it's bit much to go back after all this time to still hope/think that Asmus should "fix" this free gift giveaway. They didn't have to do the giveaway in the first place and they're under no obligation (regardless of wording i.e. should/must) to fix anything.

I also wonder, what is the "missed out" definition here? Did the op "miss out" b/c they didn't see the info in time? or was it truly due to shell accounts taking up slots? I only ask b/c the term "missed out" gets tossed around these days even if someone didn't actually miss out. Like when a figure finally sells out and someone says they "missed out" on it when in reality they just chose not to order it when they had the chance.

Since you wonder what the definition for "missed out" is for this occasion, I can clarify it up for you.
I log in here almost daily for 9 consecutive years, since I 've been a member of this forum.
The giveaway happened in a period that I was on holidays/road trip and didn't have time to check the forum.
After I returned from my trip I logged in & saw the giveaway,
made a post to get in, only to realize that I missed for 2-3 positions on the list (52-53 spot).

Regarding the giveaway as I stated before I am pointing out the wrong way it was done.
Asmus should have chosen a better way to handle it, the first 50 posters is just an easy/lazy way to handle it/get it done.
If companies have a way to get rid of the scalpers, they should pursue this path in order to to discourage them on doing such an atrocious act.
This gift is for a certain figure, I highly doubt if all the 50 posters have it in their collection.
It wouldn't mind me if it was ANY gift, but I happen to own Asmsus Aragorn, I feel bad the way it went down,
I 've given valid reasons & suggestions how it could have been done better, it's my opinion and I have every right to say it.

By all means voice your opinion. I never said that you shouldn't nor did I say you have no right to feel the way you do. And my post was not typed with disrespect, negativity or insensitivity. I wasn't trying to force you to justify your feelings. I've just seen the term "missed out" thrown around these days as a way to get folks to feel bad for a collector, when in fact, they just chose to not buy what they supposedly "missed out" on. But from the sounds of if it, it was a matter of circumstance that you missed out. If you hadn't been on your trip, or logged in just a little bit sooner afterwards, maybe you would've gotten in on the list? No one knows for sure.

And yea, maybe there were scalpers, or maybe it was ppl who heard about it through social media who do actually own the figure, but never heard of this forum and wanted in on the gift for their figure as well? To force ppl to email or post a picture seems like a bit much and would require more time for something that I think Asmus was trying to do as a quick freebie turn around. Not to mention, just b/c ppl have access to a computer, doesn't mean they have access to a camera. If I didn't have a smartphone, I'd have no camera. Also, there are ppl like me who are pretty handy with photo editing. I can take a random pic I found online and make it look like my own fairly easily if I wanted to and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I think there's more to it than, "make everyone take a pic of their Aragorn as proof."

Timing is a b**** and it gets all of us at one point or another. I'm not trying to discredit your frustration or feelings. But I guess I'm also of a different mind. If I didn't get on the list, I would just shrug my shoulders and moved on by now. Not saying you have to feel the same. It just seems like something pretty little to be holding onto for nearly a year. It's a cool accessory to have, but not having it doesn't make me like my Aragorn any less. Though, from your posts, it's not the same for you which I understand to a certain degree. Sure, there could've been other ways it could've been handled, but when it comes to giveaways, there's always ppl who miss out, no matter how it's handled. Just the nature of it. I've entered countless Sideshow giveaways since I started collecting their products back in 2007-2008 and have not won a single giveaway. It sucks, but what are you gonna do? Life goes on :peace

We’ll know for sure after these are sent out and a dozen suddenly appear on eBay for 50 bucks- or even worse, one of the accounts with only one post will offer to sell it here.

Thanks for the heads up! :hi5:

I filled it out but it made me use my google email and not my the yahoo email address I used for the giveaway.

@inyacher will this have any effect on me receiving the sword? I can PM both email addresses to you if that will help you know it's me and not some random person who got the link to the form. Thanks!

I filled out mine earlier today and I don’t think you should have any issues. According to the info provided it says the mailing address will be cross referenced with previous email they received where we confirmed our shipping address. It also said they would check to make sure you are already on the list so sharing or forwarding this would not immediately mean you can be added after the fact.

Yes, the link also defaulted to my google account rather than the email I have been using on my Asmus account for years. Hopefully that won't confuse my receipt of this gift.

Thanks for the heads up, Fly!

Yes, DakRen has replied for me.
Actually, I will double-check the name and address with the previous survey's data. If it is different, I will make sure the original person who filled up the survey before will get the gift. In this situation, I will send an inquiry mail to the previous email owner in case. Don't worry.
