I lived since birth in the western part of the city of Philadelphia. Most of my time was spent at the local playground, and playing basketball in the schoolyard.
One day, some troublemakers started frequenting my favorite spots, and me, trying to be the hero, got into an altercation with them.
My mother now feared for my safety in what she saw was a neighborhood in decline. She decided to send me (via taxi) to live with her sister on the other side of the country.
The long ride was spent getting to know the very interesting driver (whose hygiene left much to be desired). When I arrived at what was to be my new home late one evening, I was in awe. The Bel-Air section of Beverly Hills was a huge improvement over my humble hometown. I had gone from pauper to prince.
