I've watched COTBP so many times that young Jack is the only way I imagine the character. These figures have always looked a tad strange to me, maybe that's why.
A short character like Wolverine hunched over and still 19"? What is that, 1/3 scale? 1/3.5?
Should have a good presence. Just an absolute chunky unit of a statue. I dig it.
EDIT: 1/3 according to a Casey Love, cited on the other forum.
A pleasant surprise, but it might also reflect the reuse on here. I think if the bandana fit closer and the beads were all real (as they are on the now 10 year-old Elder Predator figure), a $600 price tag would've felt more justified. It would certainly stand out more from previous versions.
Made it to the order page, but once I clicked on the standard to see its sub-$300 pricetag, the Artisan stopped making sense.
Was thinking about this last night. When it comes to InArt, both versions are attractive with the rooted one being the nicest. When it comes to Hot Toys, not only is it...
Curious that they're not showing off the Artisan heads like this. Sculpted bandana looks even more reasonably sized in these photos. Surface appears more matte too, which is a plus.
Some non-official photos from JC Hong if you scroll:
The neutral expression looks better here. Smiling one looks like Johnny, but doesn't feel like Jack IMO.
Looking at it more, the fabric bandana doesn't feel too bad in the long shots. But what you will definitely notice from a distance is the difference in material.
They just posted photos of the standard -- and you still get a wheel, but on a simple flat rectangular base! Both headsculpts with moving eyes and genuine leather accessories included as well!
Don't need anything more, to be honest. That's an excellent set.
I like that you don't have to go Artisan to get leather belts. And I actually think the sculpted bandana looks better size-wise, the fabric one makes his noggin look a little too big.
Hot Toys are calling the non-Artisan version the "deluxe." Does that mean there's an actual standard version...
I haven't collected Pirates in over a decade, but would jump on a Davy Jones figure without hesitation. The design is that impressive, even as a standalone piece. No idea why he hasn't been revisited.
