thanks :)
It was your comment made me go back and resculpt the mouth area.
I can see from the pics i need to round off the area above the mouth, its still a little sharp.
the calves are pretty much finished, just need to be sanded, undercoated and spot filled.
The right thigh has been rough sanded to shape and ill get the dremel on the other thigh armour over the weekend.
The torso has a lllooonnnggggg way to go.
reworked the mouth area and gave the helmet its first wet sand. More filling and sanding needed to finish it off.
the dust on the helmet was from sanding down the thigh armour.
New update
Ive been working on this 1/4 scale project for a couple of years now on and off.
Reworked the side tubes on the face and the rear of the dome, and the ears.
1/4 scale stormtrooper helmet
Ive been working on this 1/4 scale project for a couple of years now on and off.
Reworked the side tubes on the face and the rear of the dome, and the ears.
If it was a $30 toy then yes id overlook the flaws, but at $300 i should be picky about how it looks. Ive been looking forward to Sideshow releasing the PF Stormtrooper but the helmet is the deal breaker for me.
Looks more like a copy of the Marco/GT helmets then the ANH screen used helmets :(...
Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?
Way too long for an update on this one, i dont know where this year has gone.
i decided to finish off the full size trooper helmet that i used as a template for the 1/4 scale helmet and it took a bit longer to do than i had anticipated. DOH
Anyway...
thanks for the kind words, im pretty happy with it myself
Next is the armour, seeing as the armour is rigid i can make that then create an armature to mount them on and then position it in what ever pose i like and fill in the rest of the body between the armour.
i still have an idea for a...
added a movable rubber trim
finished the ears, well almost, just to blend in the centre ear detail and finish off the screw detail on the opposite ear.
puttied, sanded and smoothed out the helmet
molded the microphone tips, drilled them out and added scale mesh. the tips are just pushed in place...
ear you go, latest update :o
worked on the ears again last night and gave them a blast of undercoat, they need to be tweaked slightly and the disks softened.
Also need to add the raised detail to the disks.
Also found a really neat way to replicate the rubber trim for the brow and it can be...
only had an hour to work on the helmet last night.
Started adding the ears, will hopefully add in the rest of the detail over the next couple of nights
