I'm sure you weren't asking me to justify my opinion on the sculpt but I was offerering a critique on what I think are it's main areas where it doesn't achieve it's goal. It's not really a case of liking or disliking it, the question is does it look like the subject, I think it doesn't, If you...
I think the main issue is that Routh has quite a boyish quality to him in SR, he was pretty young. This sculpt has emphasised some features to be more masculine than he actually was. The jaw is larger and the eyes smaller, so it has a look of him but ultimately, for me anyway, falls short. Not...
Do you ever remove material at the joints? I find it essential to prevent the paint from rubbing off when the figure is moved. Particularly the shoulders and biceps.
The pegs I covered in Aves Apoxie Sculpt, then sanded and painted. It looks better and the layers of paint seem to be holding but the flexibility of the base plastic means that over extending or bending in the wrong direction could crack or dislodge them.
The magnets on the claw I just skimmed...
Thanks man. Lot of work but I got there. The magnets I don't have a picture of and I don't want to take him apart again. I drilled into the thigh, down and out a bit from the inside, being careful to not go too far and come out the skin. I did 2 and that was enough to take the weight of the...
Finally getting done with my custom Lion-O. I might hit him with the dullcote to get rid of the residual shine. I also installed magnets in the shoulder straps so I can add a cape from "Lord of the Snows" later.
Resculpted the face, bigger jaw.
Removed some hair including the volume at the...
Mirror Liono from wave 5 is also pinless. In an interview Brian said that they lost all the tooling for wave 1 when they dropped that factory. They had to completely retool Liono for wave 5 and are reusing it for wave 6. It boggles the mind that they had the perfect opportunity to ditch that mid...
They changed out Cheetara's torso, another penny pinching measure I guess.
I don't even thing the prototype is that accurate, she looks more Asian than in the show. The production figure looks like a cosplayer with a lazy eye.
Looking good. I always use Tamiya semi gloss, since they're the paints I use anyway. I've used their matte before that's great too. Very matte. You could always hit what you've done with some testors dullcote.
