Han and Chewy are also my top picks for this 40th anniversary line along a Boushh Leia and General Lando. I'd take any and all of them before 2.0s of Luke, Palpatine or Fett. Then, Endor Rebel Commando, Ackbar or Piett would be welcome but i don't see Hot Toys commit to develop these.

...if they aren't on the latest D+ show. They made Quiil, Grogu, Blurg, Tusken, Cad Bane and the Grand Inquisitor.

Doesn’t feel like it with the more recent releases but it’s fairly even with the total count still arguably weighted towards aliens from non Disney+ content.

I’d categorize the Blurrg as a creature more than an alien but I included the other creatures to match. We definitely need more aliens from Hot Toys though.

Disney+
Ahsoka (TM)
Grogu
Kuiil
Cad Bane
Grand Inquisitor
Tusken Raider
Blurrg
Loth Cat

Non Disney+
Ahsoka (TCW)
Chewbacca (ANH)
Chewbacca (TFA)
Yoda (ESB)
Yoda (AOTC)
Wicket
Darth Maul (TPM)
Maul (TCW)
Maul (Solo)
Jawa
Salacious Crumb
Sarlaac

True, they look fairly even there. How long did it take them to release all those non D+ aliens though?

Aside from the oldest figures like ESB Yoda and the Chewies, they’re all within about the last 5 years for both lists.

You’re correct in that they’ve shifted mostly to Disney+ content; makes the most sense for them to do that. But doesn’t rule out aliens from other media, perhaps especially for an anniversary.

Now that we've seen Vader and C-3PO I'm still hoping for

R2-D2 (a generic OT version would be great or throw in the serving tray and pop up lightsaber for ROTJ specific)
General Lando
Endor Han

Those 3 and I'm good. But expect 2.0 Jedi Luke, Palpatine, and Boba Fett are more likely.

For ROTS 20th I'm hoping they do 2.0 for Anakin and Obi-Wan, and Senate Duel Palpatine and Yoda. Wonder if they'll do anything for TFA 10th? Guessing just a 2.0 Kylo and Rey at most but would love to finally get a Poe.

Ive always assumed that Disney mandate hot toys support the Disney plus shows, hence reva and the inquisitors getting figures so quickly.

I don't think it's mandated they support the Disney+ shows (Andor got nothing after all) but more Mando did really well for them and HT decided to go all in on Obi-Wan as it was the return of Ewan and Hayden and everyone was really hyped for it.

There’s also the personal factor - Anakin is Howard’s favorite Star Wars character. So it’s not surprising that a show that has Hayden in it and leans into PT connections got multiple figures.

Aside from the expectations and hype of course. There’s no doubt Andor was seen as having far less merch potential than OWK by these companies that were just going off of the pre-release material they were given.

Crazy to think that were pretty much just a Jake Llyod Anakin away from having a full Anakin collection.

And good point about the OWK show, there was a lot of hype going into that show and a lot of these companies went fully into it, and though some fans didn't take kindly to the show, it was a major hit for Lucasfilm and Disney+ and companies were able to market Obi-Wan and Darth Vader.

Companies weren't going to put extra money into marketing Cassian and Mon Mothma.

Very true. Definitely crazy and a testament to Howard’s love for Anakin. If I had to guess he probably just likes Hayden Anakin though; not sure how he feels about Lloyd. Not something I’m interested in but I’ll be happy for those that are. I do see some demand for him around; especially the people who keep asking Joost for a Podracer.

Don’t know if making figures of younger characters is something they’ll venture into. Even Grogu is 50. :lol

It’s a shame Andor isn’t viewed as more toyetic, and there is truth to that. I respect Hasbro for making all those characters in 6” even though they would’ve made more sense in 3.75”. But I don’t see them flying off the shelves.

Hopefully Hot Toys will give us something for S2. I know Jazwares has seen the demand and wants to make some ships for Andor so there’s some hope.

What could Hot Toys do to improve a ROTJ Boba Fett apart from packaging and not make it just a straightforward reissue? Diecast?

Improving for Hot Toys means dropping the cool Sarlacc diorama base, making no improvements to the figure, and charging $50 more for the funky ROTJ box. Hopefully they do what Dave W says above, basically a smaller version of the quarter-scale figure.

I’m hoping for an updated ROTJ Fett. This is my favorite version. I had both the 1/6 and 1/4 versions, I always thought the 1/6 versions jump suit was too clean and the grime on the armor wasn’t great. I sold mine after I received the ESB version, which I felt was leaps and bounds better with the paint apps. I think they have come along way with paint apps since then. The first release is pretty old now.

ROTJ Fett was announced in 2015. They would not reissue an 8 year old figure even if they could; that’d be terrible for what it’d cost today.

There’s been a lot of general improvements with figures since then. The original holds up pretty well, but they can get closer to a person in a suit look now if they try.

Diecast would not be good. Would just artificially add to the price without adding any benefit.
