I felt you had brought up an interesting point, which ties into where the value of a sculpt really is for collectors.

I think there's a level of artistry that's expected by some for more premium pieces that someone hand sculpts a portrait to be turned into a figure. Does it matter how much of that is done digitally or physically? It's true that a lot of work is done digitally these days.

But taking existing production related files or scans of a person and directly adapting that into a sculpt is different. Would that lead to a loss in appeal for some people? Or is that a way to potentially achieve greater accuracy despite losing some of an individual artist's touch?
Good points. I want the best sculpt possible sure but I think if I knew how it was made it could influence my opinion. Capturing the essence of the character with subtle expression without necessarily being 100% accurate is tantamount and I would think that’s something a sculptor brings to the table.

This is definitely their best Mark Hamill.

Another video:

Mr. Hippo's videos are always magnificent. Great archival reference material.

Am very impressed by the outfit, from the impeccable tailoring to the materials used. Really sharp!
Looks like a good figure. Gotta stop giving those blogger photos so much weight. It's the well produced matter-of-fact videos like this one that really provide a great, "this is what you're getting" look at the figure.

While the crushed Dark Trooper torso is really well done, I'll stick with the regular edition I have on order. Pottery Barn Grogu is staying in the box.

I’m sure it’s just chance, but I find it interesting this is the DX23 and the first great Jedi Luke 3.75” figure was the VC23 Luke.

So hyped for this. Very excited to get this when SS gets their stock, I've passed up all Luke figures and this will be my first then the second will be Bespin Luke. Seeing as how he comes with the new Grogu like Ashoka I'm glad to know I can have separate display options for them being scene specific.

Nice video. I don't see a huge difference in quality between the ROTJ sculpt (non-gritted) and this one personally, other than the expression. Likeness is pretty good on both IMO.
That vid does solidify my opinion that this hair sculpt is terrible lol. Way too flat. The ROTJ versions both looked way better in the vid

Now there’s going to be an ebay run and price hike for the mms517 windy hair pieces. Good luck, everyone.
I don't know what the problem is, the stock hairpiece looks fine to me!

TWL get a lot of hate and some of it justified but credit where it's due, they got this to me in less than three days. Will take a look at everything after dinner. Long term those pleather boots worry me.

As long as your collection is in a non-super humid, or super heated environment and you don’t touch your figures with greasy or sweaty hands and you don’t bend the hell out of the ankles those pleather boots will last you all the way until Disney hires back Gina Carano.

Really digging the backdrop. Usually these things go straight back in the box but the added depth with this one is very cool. Destroyed Dark Trooper also impressive, just a shame it uses those crappy cell batteries that mean the lights will rarely be on.

First Luke figure I've ever had so I've nothing to compare him to. Very happy with him overall. Details in face, likeness, tailoring all good.

Still hate the lightsaber blades. Fairly washed out green that does nothing to convey how bright and dynamic a lightsaber should look. Surely after all these years they can think of something better? Not even convinced the USB effects will be that great.

Not tried anything dynamic yet. The hands don't look shiny in person btw, just the light hitting them.

Good materials except for the crappy pleather.
