I’m really enjoying working on this figure 😊

Really loving all the pictures.
I guess it will be sometime next week when mine arrives, so keep them coming.

In the meantime, I bought some charcoal grey dye and when watered down, I have the final color I’ll be going with.
I don’t know if I’ll be doing it for the coat since it is very tedious, but I did test out trying to get the “piping” details. I tested two thicknesses of yarn threaded to the back of the material.
It’s hard to see in direct light, but if lit from the sides, it really pops out. The thick yarn may be a little too drastic.
I’m also testing what to use for the button hole details.
I tried some puff paint for the dots (seen at the bottom left material), but it’s hard to be consistent and doesn’t look great.

I also drew up and printed some apples and did a quick paint job (which I will tweak a bit more).

Fantastic efforts and the puff paint is an interesting idea!👏👏👏

Maybe just plain old liquid embroidery paint that looks vinyl would work?

I’m surprised I haven’t seen more work done for his bloodshot eyes.

Is it perfect?... no.

Is it cool?... Yes!

Glad I took a risk and pre-ordered it. Here are two quick straight out of the box shots. Tried to put on his hat but it was a very tight fit and I didn't want to risk it, as he is going back into the box temporarily, as I need to clear a shelf for him and Sparrow.

Pretty good quality, all around. The head sculpt is not Hot Toys level in sculpt or paint apps but he is definitely recognizable as Barbossa.

Love the pistol and sword. The monkey is actually really well sculpted and painted.

The only real negative is with the base. As mentioned before, the stand is not a snug fit to the base. Will require some material wedged in to hold it in place.

The promised crappy pics:

My Barbossa came in today as well. Really love this figure since it has plenty of details and there is room for me to futz around with it and customize it. The accessories are awesome and it's a solid figure. I haven't taken the base out yet, but I probably won't be using it anyway since he will be standing next to Jack in my Detolf.
this is a larger figure than I thought, so I'm adjusting my coat pattern accordingly.

Also, for those who want to get a more slim waist with the current coat, make sure you pleat it in the back and I even used two sewing pins to cinch the waist even more. You can even add some small buttons to cover the pin heads since there are supposed to be buttons there anyway.
I also adjusted the belt and baldric buckles to a more accurate position. The bottom buckle has a nub that goes into a hole in the leather that can pop out since it wasn't glued in and all I did was slide it down. The top buckle is a little loose and slides down easily, so I just stuck a small folded piece of paper in the back to tighten it onto the belt.

Here are my crappy pics:

Excellent idea regarding cinching the coat in the back, Vash. It does look great in your pics. I also have the loose top buckle and will try your idea of a small wedged piece of paper to keep it in place.

Looks great with the apple and the cinched coat! Any chance you might offer some apples for sale? Definitely an accessory he’s missing!

Nice pictures!
I've done my coffee and paint staining on the waistcoat, sash, trousers, boots, and am pretty happy with them (I'll take pictures soon).
What body would people recommend replacing this one with? Mine broke into a thousand pieces when I tried to swap hands....
