Did sideshow ever shipped this with the shipper boxes or they just shipped it as is? It was pouring down here and I rushed to the ups truck with an umbrella but the driver thought it was for him so my box got soaked, in the rain, 😒, the batmobile is fine of course but I thought it was like the 1989 batmobile that came with an outer shipper box 😭

All my tumblers came with a brown shipping box. On my 3rd 🤦🏻‍♂️

Hi everyone - started unpacking my tumbler and noticed glue/residue on the top of the car. Any tips or ideas on cleaning the body without damaging the finish? I haven’t even gotten around to unpacking the car so I’m not sure there are any other issues I need to address.

I used masking tape and this all pulled off with no trace. Seems the styrofoam gums up and sticks to it without scratching

I used 70% isopropyl alcohol And it came right off easily. I always use to remove sticker residue!

wait what so it does exist? Why did sideshow send it as is then, I wonder if they would send me one anyways.

I would send them an email with explanation and pictures of the damaged art box due to it not being shipped in a brown shipper. I would also add a pic of wherever the shipping label was applied for further verification.

Sounds like you’ve been lucky but I can’t recommend this for Hot Toys at all. If it’s a painted surface the alcohol can haze or shine the surface depending on the type of paint. Blacks usually haze and skin tones get shiny.

You can just use a paper towel and warm water to get this off... I had the same residue on mine and it all came off easily...

Paper towels are basically wood and will scratch the paint. Just pull it off with masking tape like I originally suggested. It’s the least likely to do any harm.

I used alcohol on mine and this is exactly what happened. The roof on mine is hazy now. Anyway to fix this or am I gonna have to repaint it?

You could maybe try adding some type of conditioner to it like back to black for car exterior trim. You’d have to be super super sparing with it or it may make it too shiny.

I haven’t done this myself but my theory is the alcohol has a similar effect to something aging/drying out really rapidly and it strips oils from the paint. The conditioner would be an attempt to return/replace those oils or at least fill in the gap left behind.

Other than that I think repainting is the only option.

Ehhhhh, it’s actually easy to shine up a surface again but you would need scale modeling Tamiya(plastic mind you) polishing compound and a polishing rag, use accordingly be glossy or matte surfaces though, think of buffing out paint but since they are no scratches it’s easy to restore the shine.
I have done this successfully on model cars but indeed I OT I forgot to emphasize molded/painted. Even then this only happened when I use 91-99% concentration.

I’ll email sideshow About it, I did check that I do have double boxing preferences In place

Shiny is easy, satin or matte is pretty impossible to get an industrial finish through any kind of abrading. Matte and satin finishes are actually a fine texture and any rubbing or polishing will remove that texture.

Waiting anxiously to see if they have improved the god awful cowl on this figure.

InArt will inevitably do the suit from TDK leaving Begins as the poor relation again. :(

Sideshow just told me they don’t replace items because of box damages anymore, anything done to the shipper or inart box is not a good excuse, it has to be damaged inside the box, to be honest the vehicle is flawless but I’ll guess I’ll keep a lookout for empty boxes online, I am hopeful because I did manage to replace the 89 batmobile’s entire outer and shipper box that way 🫣🫣🫣
According to them the rep told me the double box option is only for 1/6 action figures but it wasn’t available for this I guess

That’s unfortunate. I have noticed more and more lately that they are becoming a little less “friendly” when it comes to returns/replacements like they used to be, at least when it comes to Hot Toys pieces. As a more recent example, I had a rep tell me that my damaged Endgame Captain America is supposed to be like that based on their “in house” sample when I know for a fact it isn’t, seeing how I already have one that isn’t, ya know, damaged :lol Yet, when I had a couple issues with some Sideshow products they were very, very apologetic stating that those damages do not reflect the real quality of Sideshow products, blah blah blah andhad no problem or push back on sending me replacements.

They should know there’s a difference between the brown shipper and double boxing. Double boxing provides another box that surrounds the brown shipper and the art box within it. That’s 3 boxes instead 2.

Unfortunately, sideshow doesn’t double box anything beyond a 1/6 figure, but if you’re truly missing the brown shipper, that’s something else entirely. I’ve never had that happen.

There’s no excuse for them forgetting the brown shipper. Sorry to hear they did that to you.
