I was trying to say that the apologists for 1/6 pricing rising due to inflation are missing something if 1/3 and 1/4 scale figures haven risen at a slower rate.

Ohhhhh ok thanks for clarifying yeah that makes sense now lol

You’re right though.

Statues are rising slower than figures although statues were much higher to begin with so the increase might not be as noticeable but 1/4 PF and Maquettes have also definitely jumped up as well.

Covid Pox has opened the door for excuses and gouging.

The cost of production keeps increasing every day so I'm not surprised to see Hot Toys and 1/6 prices in general are going up, expect them to go even higher if things keep going like they are now, plus who knows how much Tobey asked for them to use his likeness and so on.

What I find funny is that there's people in this thread who happily payed $1000 for the InArt Joker double pack and the sculpted hair version of that was a little over $300 but they have released zero figures yet in this thread everyone is losing it over the price, Tobey and Sandman base for $450 is still cheaper than InArt's Pennywise or Gandalf which cost over $500, now I know not everyone has pre-ordered those figures or would ever spend that kind of money on a figure but for those that did and are up in arms about the price how is the price for Tobey/huge ass Sandman base unacceptable but $1000 to $500 for a company with zero releases is fine?

Geniunely curious. 😅

Tobey license is definitely the reason behind the huge jump in cost he is the new Nicholson lol

my guess is we are relying on queen/inart reputation.

I dont have a major problem with the mcguire spiderman price really. I'll get it a year or so after it releases. I probably have a bigger issue with the jane foster thor being over $300. I dont know how they justify that price when I dont think there is that much demand for it.

That one looks rough lol, I heard Portman was stingy with her likeness as well so might be because of that.

If I had the chance to get this w/o the tobey head I would get that one if it saved me $75, The garfield head with my other spiderman from a few years back never made it out of the box.
I kinda agree, i like the tobey head but honestly would probably never use it. It's a great sculpt, but his expression is so lifeless lol. I mean i get it though, what other expression could you really do for him though?

One third prices are rising at crazy rates. Prime 1 Superman cost me £999. A new one third is nearly double that only two years later.

A standard HT figure is still about £200 if you buy from Hong Kong. Can't speak for Sideshow but HT haven't increased their HK prices drastically.

I like the sculpt because it has that super soulful look he gave Holland at the end of the movie to stop him from killing Goblin.

That was my favorite scene in the movie when Tobey grabbed the glider.

Probably saw Zurdo's enthusiasm for Brie and didn't want to have the same attention.

I'll accept the seam but it pisses me off. The way the Holland figures were done looked fine and I really wish they'd have just stuck with that to maintain a seamless neck. But everyone had to ***** so now we're stuck with this weird swap out neck design from 10+ years ago.
Everyone "bitched" because the seamless necks made unmasked heads look absolutely ridiculous.

No, it looks ridiculous if you're nitpicky af and also may wanna get checked out for severe OCD.

Oh please. You're in a forum where detail is one of the priorities for collectors and has always been a criteria. That neck seam is horrible. No other way to put it. It's not OCD to expect it for the type of collectible and the price being asked for.

Honestly, for masked characters like Spider-Man, I would gladly give up the unmasked head sculpt for decreased price and / or more accessories.

I have never displayed my figures with the unmasked head EVER. I go see their movie for their costumed persona. I buy them for their costumed persona as well. As much as I liked seeing Andrew and Tobey again, I found myself screaming (in my head): “Put your damn mask back on. You have villains to fight and you are in the public.”

I mean a large part of the appeal of the three Spider-Men is to have the sculpts for all three actors.

The suits are different of course but especially in the case of Maguire and Garfield not so super different (before anyone gets on me for saying it I do realize the differences but they’re still kind of close).

Absolutely agree, I would happily buy a sculpt-less option if it was a bit cheaper.
I like the Maguire sculpt and I think it looks great - I also think the same of my Jake Gyllenhaal Mysterio sculpt which hasn't left my spare parts drawer.
Given that Hot Toys loves rolling out editions, deluxe editons, deluxe deluxe editions and super duper cereal special mega ultra premium masterline editions then I do think they could roll out a cheaper base edition without the head sculpt for collectors who only intend to display their Spidey with his mask on and don't want to fork over a huge amount of money on a nice thing that will ultimately be hidden away.

I for one would rather have the Sandman base rather than a Maguire sculpt - but maybe I'm alone on that one

They should do deluxe versions with two bodies. One with the Peter sculpt, the other masked with no seam lines. Feels like that's something InArt would do.
