This proto looks really good but like others have already said, it's hard to get behind this line after how bad Obiwan and Anakin came out. Considering how often Sideshow items are "sold out" and then go back up for PO, there's no doubt in my mind that these will be around for awhile.

The more I compare the HT to the SS I’m leaning towards the SS. It just represents the character so much better for me. Plus I think it still lends itself well to go with other realistic characters not in the cartoon style.

Maybe I’m just trying to justify this purchase. 😉

There is no way this comes out well from SS. Absolutely no way.
The marvel line seemed to come out pretty well. There is still hope.

The other thing you have to consider is how much "vegan leather" there is on this figure.

Consider also for a moment, if this sells well Sideshow will be flaying a lot of vegans to harvest that leather.

Think of the vegans...

One of the very few areas that SS tends to beat HT is the quality of faux leather they use. It seems to last longer than HT in my experience.

This figure, in spite of the rest of this range, does actually look very good.

Seen alongside the Hot Toys it even makes the Hot Toys look a bit odd.

The HT has the benefit of cloth over pleather, so there's no concerns about leaving the arms or legs bent for long periods.

I still prefer the less 'animated' sculpt on the HT.

I don't like the way live action Cad Bane looks. Urgh terrible. So I'm skipping the HT BoBF version.
This SS TCW version looks great but it's SS so definitely going to wait for final release version. Far too high a chance the actual release will be garbage.
Looks like you could end up with no Cad Bane :ROFLMAO:

Yep. I mean Hot Toys only copied what they got in live action. It's really on Filoni and co at Disney for making the live action Bane so much different to the Clone Wars look. Despite this race being in the OT already.

That live action hat looks even more comical next to the SS proto. o_O

What are the bodies like on more recent SS figures ? Still that floppy garbage ?

I wonder what the chances are that they use the same tall body as HT ? Maybe they came to an agreement on that ??

I‘ve found the reverse to be true personally, but I suppose that would depend on what the pleather was used for and what era the figures are from.

Sideshow pleather tends to be very thin and Hot Toys pleather used to be worse so perhaps comparable to each up to a certain point.

But Hot Toys pleather and textiles have improved a bit over the years (though still not without issues). I don’t think the same could be said of Sideshow since they stopped focusing on their in-house 1:6 figures.

Yep, still a mess and they even got downgraded between the batches of the Mythos Obi-Wan figures.

Not a chance. They wouldn’t ask and Hot Toys isn’t sharing their bodies. They could design one again for Sideshow but that didn’t stop the armored bodies they developed for Sideshow from becoming floppy messes over time. That was down to manufacturing.

Sideshow has never cared about using a top of the line base body. Whatever is cost effective and holds a pose for 32 days is fine by them.

Sideshow doesn't need to care about everything since they're the sole exclusive distributor outside of Asia for their own products and Hot Toys.

Collectors that source from HK sellers are in the minority so they're not worried about.

Anyone with good Photoshop skills able to show what the Hot Toys Bane would look like with a larger SS style hat ?

Maybe that'll be enough for me.

I do prefer the SS face/headsculpt, but having the 3 swapout plates for the HT version is a definite plus.
