Why can't Thor just use lightning like he did at the end of Ragnarok?
This has bugged me ever since Infinity War- why does Thor keep needing to fight with an axe/hammer/whatever when he has the lightning inside him? I thought that was a really great development from Ragnarok, and it's largely been sidelined, with the only reference being all the electricity effects on the armor (but never a lightning bolt straight from Thor).

Anyways, I saw the movie today, and it was... fine. Some of the cinematography was really great, but the emotional/comedic beats didn't hit as well for me compared to Ragnarok.

No interest in picking up this figure since I like my Thor to be short-haired and missing an eye (I have IW Thor, though I also really dig the tattered cape gladiator look from the final battle in Ragnarok). Mighty Thor is the closest to a must-have from this movie, but HT will probably keep doing their female sculpted hair thing when it would benefit from rooted hair. I could be tempted by Valkyrie and

, though the latter is a very long shot.

What's your opinion of this? Maybe it's just me, but it seems too slight and not "rocky" enough lol. Those pants are no doubt contributing to that but when his feet are wider than his thighs you know the proportions are a bit off. He has pants in the movie but in the shots I've seen his legs still look decidedly thicker than they do on the figure. The colors on the pants don't look that great either, but I haven't seen Love & Thunder yet so I don't know if they're accurate or not. Lastly, the face doesn't really look like Korg to me. A minor complaint, but their Dark Star/Cull Obsidian prototype looked spot-on so one would think they'd nail this one as well.

Definitely don't need the deluxe after seeing the movie. I might even skip this release all together after watching the film and I've got every thor release since the first avengers. Feels like they didn't even bother trying to make it humorous, just silly and thought people would like it because Taika's name is on it again. All hail Thor God of Dummies! :slap

Yeah my interest in any figures has dropped considerably after watching the movie. It had it's moments, but most of it was just a ridiculous, idiotic mess (with a ton of bad CGI). Which almost makes Thor 2 seem like a masterpiece in comparison now.

I may still be tempted by a Jane Thor, since her arc was about the only thing in the movie that worked, but even my excitement for that figure has dwindled quite a bit now.

Saw the movie twice already. I like it. I want the outfit he wears when he’s with the Guardians. That would go great with the team. Would love a Jane but they need to get the body right. It can’t be a tiny regular HT female body.

Yeah I don’t know about this. I was really hoping for a Korg and this may be the only option in the near future but I don’t like the looks of this. I agree with you on the points of you brought up about why this is “off”
This company did a really nice job with their Ebony Maw figure but their Proxima Midnight figure was pure garbage! In all of my collection that Proxima figure is my one regret, and although it was relatively inexpensive compared to Hot Toys i feel like it was a total waste of money and I will not display it.

I guess my point is that my initial impression of this is not positive but I will wait until I see some in-hand photos before I consider buying it. I do not have enough confidence in InFamous to behave otherwise

The design of the print looks close but the colors are just a bit pale on the pants. The rest looks decent, probably as good as we're going to get. Height sounds right from the specs but would be useful to see it next to a standard figure

It appears on the pants they have white panels where gold should be. There was a some promotional art where the pants looked like that so no doubt that's where they got it. I doubt they'll correct it given the short turnaround. I agree this is probably the only Korg we'll get but I'm passing. If there was a Ragnarok version with the rock legs too I'd be tempted, but this just isn't doing it for me.

Do we think HT will do Korg? I was holding out hope. I may have to get the 3rd party one, though I don't love it.

Completely agree with this. I still hope for furr/roadworn 2.0 Thor b/c I love the look and want that to be my only Thor but yea, didn't really like the movie at all. I'd take a Jane Thor as well.

I thought it was on par with Ragnarok, which is to say a boring ass movie where everything is bland and generic except the humor which is often unwelcomed. The difference is Ragnarok came out pre-IW hype and this one is coming at a time where people are being burned out on the MCU.

At least this movie didn't have the Matrix Reloaded scene that Hela had complete with rubbery CGI.

When they arrive at Zeus’s place Janes helmet is cgi too and it looked SO bad.
It may have been cgi the whole time but it looks like a paper cut out in that scene.

Yeah, that was a very yikes moment. Took me straight out of the movie
Oh wow, this sounds really unfortunate.

I mean, although I am from LA, I do not work in the film industry so there are a ton of things about filmmaking that I don’t understand. There may be some very valid reasons for rendering a CGI helmet on an actor rather than putting a real helmet on them. Maybe real helmets are too heavy, or move around too much. Maybe they create unwanted glints of light or reflections …I have no idea.

That said I do wish that they would save the CGI for other things that can’t really be replicated in real life. Because as Turtle said, spotting obvious CGI effects on things like helmets does detract from the experience for me.

Btw I’m not trying to bash the use of CGI, I am an older guy and as a kid I saw those old Sinbad movies with the stop-motion film effects to create Minotaurs, and giant Cyclopses. So I appreciate CGI and other modern enhancements to filmmaking that allow for stories to be brought to us that simply couldn’t be pulled off when I was a kid. I saw the original Star Wars movie at the Chinese Theatre with some of my friends in Hollywood when I was about 13yo. My mom took us to the film, and afterwards we were all so pumped and blown away by what we had seen bk it was such a quantum leap from Sci-fi films that proceeded it. So I love and appreciate the use of modern technologies in films …but maybe it doesn’t have to be used so much.

There is no justification for using CGI helmets, feels just lazy and weird and more expensive? There are tons of movies out there with characters who wear helmets, for example Lord of the rings... I can't really understand the decisions they make nowadays.
