Okay, so from what I understand it seems that these would be like an early pre-order, and then they'd go up for pre-order again at a later date. So 100 people would have early copies of the crew earlier if they manage to snag a pre-order every week. And then these characters would go back up for pre-order at a later date.

That’s both kind of cool but also sounds like a PR nightmare. I can just imagine having to constantly explain that there’s a regular preorder window coming.

If they eventually go back up, it's not bad. If the finale is next week I'm a little worried. Either way, I will wither the storm and get what I can get.

Eh, how many people ready to throw 2k on 9 new series characters? There's some I'd buy, but not all, so if you release 100 sets, that's probably about right, very niche for collectors who want it all and want it first. Regular POs later, and you can buy what you want, sounds ok to me. I'd be down with this method on some other series....would avoid sold out heartbreak...

The finale for SNW is next week. So first figure from the series then?
He said “For special 100 sets S2 preorders, One new figure per new episode, and finishes the entire crew by finale?”, where I would assume the S2 is season 2. So the pre-orders would start with the Season 2 premiere and end with the season 2 finale about a year from now. Obviously pre-orders couldn’t start next week since We haven’t seen even one prototype from the show yet. Not even Nanjin is that fast! 😅

Something like that. Just an idea.

I have to have everything approved for all 9 characters in order to do this.

Then of course, whatever happen with SNW can not affect what have already scheduled for presale, productions, and or releases.

Bring it on! SNW is the best first season of a trek show since the original series. I will get the whole bridge crew as well as a green shirt pike and T'pring.

No kidding. Why no love for them??
TNG already started with Q. TNG has their own production and release timeline, and it is already in motion when we started shipping Q.

ENT follows our general guideline. In which, it requires each series to have a minimum of 3 characters with proforma production schedule before debuting. Current EXO-6 business operation doesn't pay attention on demand or presale conflicts or presale quantities but annual total production quantity from our in-house factory.

Archer is just waiting for his landing party. He himself is ready long ago.

First Contact is getting ready to come back in the game with full force.

I only have 4 years left.

*Sigh*

I assume this will be an unpopular post, so I want to start off with some context.

I have always loved Star Trek. From the run-runs of TOS when I was a kid, all the way through TNG, all the movies, to Discovery and SNW.

One of the most powerful ways I connect with these shows is to own a piece of them through collecting. I was beyond excited when Nanjin headed up the production team at QMX and began producing high quality sixthscale for my beloved Trek.

And while some could argue that the QMX offerings were not perfect (lack of custom bodies by individual figure is probably the best example) they were still awesome to collect because the head sculpts were almost all very strong.

Enter EXO-6

Great customized bodies, next level attention to detail in the accessories, the best wardrobe tailoring I think I’ve ever seen in sixthscale. Incredible.

But the head sculpts

I’m sorry, but they are just not good enough.

All those other amazing items are very important in creating a top tier 1/6 figure. But (for me anyway, and I can’t believe I’m alone in this) the single most important element that MUST be there for a worthy top shelf release is a jaw dropping sculpt, and EXO is just not there.

I really like their Data release, but not really interested in collecting First Contact. I loved the movie, and I assume there might still be a non-compete something or other that won’t allow EXO to repeat QMX releases (or maybe just good business sense not to launch a new company by offering figures a high percentage of the target audience already owns) but either way, I knew I didn’t want to invest in a FC line up right away and with my TOS and TNG collection woefully incomplete.

But other than Data, (and with a few other possible exceptions) I have found the sculpts soft and unconvincing.

The best example here is Janeway. She is definitely recognizable, but her features look melted to me, and the hair looks like something a baker would create using frosting as the media to make a Voyager tribute cake for a fan’ 9th birthday party.

Anyway, some are definitely better than others, but as a line, I’ve found myself often hovering my finger over the Add to Cart button at both Sideshow and EXO direct, but just can’t make myself pull the trigger because all in all, the EXO figures are just not there……yet.

I still remain hopeful that later lines and later releases get me there. The STTMP figures look pretty damn good, and the TWOK could be a game changer, and I wish Nanjin and the company only massive success.

So for me, EXO is an optimistic work in progress. Not ready for me yet, but hopefully soon!

Thank you. Just skip us from your collection maybe comeback in a few years. Hot Toys surely have better figures.

As a die hard Voyager fan who actually has the Janeway and EMH figures in hand, they're fantastic.
The sculpts aren't 100%, but I'm aware that:
A) These were early releases, Nanjin has said they're getting better with each release
B) There's a hopeful chance we'll get further releases down the line, particularly of Janeway (bun of steel please)!
Also, as somebody in the UK these figures cost around £165 each, in 1:6 that is unparalled value, especially with all of the accessories you get!
Sure, Nanjin could slap an extra £100, spend a year on each figure in R&D and we could get a picture perfect Kirk, Spock, Picard and Data before the money runs out, as it always does with high end collectables where the business becomes more obsessed with perfection over completion.

If you don't like the current sculpts, nobody is forcing you to buy.
If you have honest, constructive feedback about the figures and their construction/detailing and have methods you can offer to make them better while sticking in the same price range, I'd advise dropping a message offering your advice and production facilities to Exo-6 directly.
