Haha I appreciate the encouragement....it's the sculpt that's holding me back from buying. Don't get me wrong, it's a phenomenal sculpt. It absolutely belongs in the conversation for Asmus best piece of art. I just really wish this had a happier expression. That's not how I think of Bilbo and would have loved a warm smile to be displayed with Gandalf.

I wonder if Dean Tolliver will make a sculpt with a nicer expression on it. I know he does visit these boards. I just can't remember his user name to tag and ask.

Fair enough. I totally get that the headsculpt can be appreciated but it not resonate with you. Maybe Asmus will revisit the sculpt if we collectors are nice enough and ask respectfully. I would also prefer a "softer" expression but personally can't let this release go by.
Also noticed how many pre-orders you have! So yeah, I guess you have to be 100% :)

Everyone was complaining about it when it was first shown. They had months to fix it but did nothing so I doubt they will do another one. It will also piss off a lot of collectors who have already bought.

Can't hurt to throw the idea out there though. They're re-releasing Boromir with an updated sculpt and they're working on getting the Crown Gandalf sculpt out as an extra offering. They have also responded to the collective dissatisfaction with the Gandalf hat, so there may be a chance. Who knows? If they don't I'll still most likely enjoy Bilbo as he is based on the forum members photos and general satisfaction surrounding the release.

Is Boromir really getting a new sculpt? Last I heard the only update were for his boots being split.

This was from March. Full figure with new headsculpt and split boots. Head upgrade available apparently.

Has a 1/6 company ever released just an updated head sculpt for purchase? I would be down for a well executed happy faced Baggins if offered later.

Other than Asmus? I don't know of any. Asmus has done it several times at this point. Aragorn, Merry, Pippin, Frodo, Sam, Gandalf Crown (upcoming) ... (Though my memory is fuzzy, some of those might have been replacements (only to customers of original figures), but some were definitely for sale.)

I cancelled and ordered through Asmus. I didn't even lose my deposit since he is on backorder apparently. I wonder how late he will actually be? Looks like Smeagol will be late too.

Seems like Asmus is shipping these out pretty fast (although FedEx is pretty hit and miss in my area)

You didn't lose your NRD? That's interesting.

that's putting it mildly...
fast if they get it right but-
throwing package anywhere in the yard (egg hunt to find it),
delivering to wrong address, in the wrong town,
constantly smashed packages,
worst customer service- you have to fight with phone automation for any info...

Bilbo arrived a day early. Just unboxing him now. I have to say for my first figure from Asmus I’m pretty impressed.

My only minor nitpick is that he’s somewhat hard to stand with his feet not having articulation. Appreciate that the legs/feet are seamless but it would help to be able to have some ankle pivot.

Decided he’d go well on the bookshelf.
