People are sleeping on this for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes a grail in a few years' time.

Maybe, I do suspect it will be very much saught after once it finally sells out. If anybody finds a suitable clock to mount behind this, do please let me know.

I know it's not what you meant - but any excuse to show off Narin's work :lol

Got my invoice for this from Secret Compass! I was beginning to think this statue didn't even exist. :lol Glad the boats seem to be moving, hope this means I'll hear from Spec Fiction regarding the Big Chap soon. Really nervous about that one.

Had mine too and for the big game predator. Hopefully soon I will see the 2 hunter victims followed by the regal robot holochess pieces all ordered via secret compass. Just hope all arrives intacked.

Tracking said I'd have it before 7pm tonight.

Should've been here by now.

I ordered mine about a month ago, how long did yours take? I'm assuming several months? I need to know when to start greedily wringing my hands in anticipation.
I placed my order with Secret Compass in June. Their stock from Prime 1 was on a ship waiting to dock in California for the last few months. It finally arrived in their warehouse last week and was sent on its way to me.

The City Hunter released in Asia last March, so it's been a year-long wait for Secret Compass to get their stock.

Man! Congrats! That's quite a wait, esp. for something that's already "here". "Can i just go down there myself and grab it? No?"
I'm excited for you, i hope it comes on time, intact, and ready to hunt.

Just got it. Doesn't look to be any damage.

Some initial thoughts:

- The size of this thing really reinforces my desire for Hot Toys to put out a 1/4 Jungle Hunter. I went for Prime 1's 1/3 version because it was the only show in town that had a shot at decent paint apps, but man, that sucker is gonna be a paint to display. Even this little (heh, I can't even say it with a straight face) City Hunter statue is PLENTY of statue for me. We're talking creatures that are eight feet tall. There's no need for 100-lb 1/3 pieces that can only be displayed on special shelving units IMO.

- A few sloppy areas here and there (mostly on the hands and feet), but nothing crazy. The overall paint application is solid and the finish still reads like that of a high-end piece. Armor is beautifully done. Maybe not as bold and shiny as Infinity's, but looks great nonetheless.

- I was worried the semi-gloss on the body wouldn't be shiny enough, but it's quite nice. Unfortunately it's lacking on the feet and almost completely absent from the unmasked head -- which needs it most.

- Overall, I like it. Had the Big Game 1/4 turned out as well as this, I'd have kept my order and been a happy camper on the Predator front. As it stands, my best shot at a nice Jungle Hunter is the refrigerator-sized 1/3. That is unless Infinity hasn't abandoned their version and decides to improve their initial concept.

EDIT: Updated with photos.

Spoke too soon. Upon close inspection, I noticed some slivers along the forehead pattern. They look like cracks and, sure enough, the decal is chipping off. What came off is maybe half a millimeter in diameter, but with all of these cracks, those spots will start to add up in time.

Touching up the cracks and coating the unsealed areas with Mod Podge should take care of the issue, but as many have said including myself: sealing the bloody thing is a fundamental step when painting FFS.

Guess we're back to the drawing board. As much as I love the look of this thing, do I take it upon myself to complete the production process (because let's face it, that's what I'd be doing)? Do I send it for an exchange (which will probably still need some form of sealer)? Or do I call the whole thing off and return for a refund?

Not a decision I should have to make, that's for sure.

EDIT: The body has them, too. Even the thighs, which look to be glossed. Bigger chips coming off.

****ing hell. This hurts. I really love this piece aside from the QC. Can't believe something this beautiful has these kinds of easily-avoidable problems. This wasn't supposed to be a fixer-upper.

In the hands of a better company, this sculpt and pose would've made for a truly special statue. But as usual... the wrong company got the license.

Damn sorry to hear Blade, these expensive 'high end' statues shouldn't require patching from us customers. We are paying big bucks, so why in the hell should we stress and spend time fixing things?

The more I see chipping paint like this the closer I am to pulling the plug on the 1/3. Will wait until early pics when the statue is released, but am not having much faith. Irrespective of whether I keep my order or not, guaranteed this is my last piece from prime 1. There's absolutely no fun or joy collecting with these guys.

Agreed. I'm tempted to pull the plug now, but there's no strategic advantage to doing so before seeing photos.

Really puts me off that we have to deal with such compromises on these characters while others get so many high-end iterations per year. Either they're
- sculpted poorly
- painted poorly
- loaded with QC issues
- if all else goes well they're packaged poorly with few replacements available

It would be nice for Predator fans to get a win. Or at least a decent, trouble-free experience that feels alright. Thought this was going to be it.

My principled side would rather return it and be done with the whole thing. My practical side isn't saying much different because I'd either be taking a chance on a modification OR shipping a giant box back and forth hoping to get a copy with fewer issues. My heart is conflicted because it's so rare to get a Predator piece that ticks most of the other boxes I mentioned, but what message is that sending? That we're desperate and willing to settle? No way, not at this price point.

I believe they are common problem with this statue. I have the same issue also along with one of my friends. I am fully paid my JH 1/3 and scared how that huge statue will turn out.

If modding it isn't too risky or hard or costly, it may be worth it. Us collectors shouldn't have to deal with this stress though.

The 1/3 is too good to not give it a shot. Losing the deposit for me is worth the gamble on possibly owning the best pred statue made to date. Yes I'm terrified whether prime 1 will deliver but cannot afford to miss the chance like I did with the CM. Heck I may even get it in hand first and if I don't like what I see can always sell it down the track. It's just frustrating that we have to worry about an extra thing (longevity), worrying about accuracy is already enough in this hobby lol.

I think this is the same problem Ronny Haze ran into with his Big Game 1/4: the decals were not fully set into the grooves, so they're just hovering above crevices and wrinkles in the sculpt.

Seems to me the most complete fix would be to chip away the jacked-up decals, fill in those grooves with real paint, then apply a new layer of gloss myself.

I tried to return a jacket to china a few weeks ago, cheapest shipping was $100. Not sure how/if that applies to japan, but dang, you have to count the return shipping as a loss, right?
