Each to their own there I suppose. It's not wrong to express a preference either way.
I’ve seen both color and b&w versions at Target and passed on the color. I realized when I think of these characters I think of them in “silver screen” hues. Hoping for Bela Lugosi Dracula, and Lon Chaney Phantom in b&w from NECA. I already have good Mummy and Creature from the Black Lagoon representation in my collection so I can pass on those, that Mummy dog nose just bothers me, as does the Wolfman head sculpt, but a b&w paint might change my mind. Werewolf of London would be great and a Frederick March Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde would be amazing but not likely.

I could see Hyde and Phantom happening just so Neca could double dip on parts of a tuxedo body they’ll develop for Dracula.

I have the entire Sideshow 7” Universal series with stands and nameplates (I love stand and nameplates) representing this genre in my display so not in a huge rush for NECA!! That said I still would like the NECA offerings but only interested in one. Would love to see both colour and B&W before I make my selection.

The black and white shows off the sculpt better by showing us how poorly painted the color version is,lol.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I have no interest in the color version, but this is a definite buy, which means I really need a Bela Dracula for the minimum "Big 3."

Wolfy does look better in B&W. Frankly is pretty negligible but this is a much clearer distinction. The colored parts would nicely go on this body for that look more similar to the Sideshow PF coloring so that’s a plus too. Thinking about having Wolfman on the black body and Talbot in Green.

I've gotten both the color and B&W versions of Frankenstein's Monster and I'm happy with both. I agree that the B&W preview photos of The Wolfman highlight the great sculpt much better than the color version photos. I'm holding judgement on the color version until I see the final released figure. I'll probably still get it. I'm a sucker for Universal Monster figures.

Trust me the final release will have worst paint

Not necessarily,

NECA have begun to use 3D printing for the heads in the same way that SH Figuarts have. The Frankensteins were among the first to use this process and it has worked well so far. The days of faces being purely painted may be over.

I feel.like the contrast is too different in the color and also the weird mustache they gave him that is not in the black and white version.

That could be an error on the print on the colour version, it happens from time to time. I have a Freddie Mercury that is missing his moustache thanks to a printing error. The black and white version looks just as it did in 1941.

I didn’t know this info, hope you’re right

Hopefully,

The shading on the B&W's is more subtle which brings out the features more. This is why the Monster looks so good. I've seen it on a few other figures and they look just as good. Trevor Grove has always done good sculpts, it's only now that the 'paint' has really done it justice.

If I decide to stick with color on this series, I will be repainting the faces on my Wolfman heads. I have some experience with paints, so I can fix it.
