At certain angles the hat looks decent. Or even good. The hat itself is cool, it looks good as a hat. It just sits too high.

I might even be able to eventually squeeze Bilbo and Gollum on there... if I remove the gate...

Makes me want a mountain pass diorama to recreate the money shot of the Fellowship staring their adventure.

I’m hoping we’ll see some good revisits of most of the Fellowship at this new Gandalf level. Aragorn and the Hobbits in particular could use an upgrade. But that fact they did manage to get the full Fellowship out blows my mind. Sideshow came frustratingly close back in the day.

That was originally my plan for my Fellowship display but after they did the diorama bases for Gandalf and Aragorn I couldn't not use those bases so I decided to go a different route.

Not sure if I'll be using the stand much. It's way too crowded to try to fit him on the stand with the gate and mailbox. You can appreciate the figure better with just a regular stand.

I might be able to fit it behind Gandalf on a regular stand, though.

There is an issue for my set with the stand accessories. The peg at the bottom of the mailbox post doesn't fit into it's slot. I will have to shave it down with a razor blade. That's a small pain in the ass that I shouldn't be dealing with.

The pegs for the gate posts barely fit as well, for that matter. In the pictures above the mailbox is just barely squeezed into the base and resting against the gate post. It would fall over if not resting against the gate post.

Christopher Lee was 6'5". That's probably what you were thinking.

The hat issue is really a bummer considering how much time and effort Asmus put into this. How it wasn't caught or discussed in production is beyond me. Hopefully they will issue a fix. I wonder if the old GTG hat will work.

From the pix the eyes seem to be all over the place. In some photos they look very realistic and have a sparkle, other photos they look lifeless or hollow. But I think that comes down to who's taking the pix. Will have to wait for more reviews and ultimately what it looks like in hand. My guess is they will be fine. If there is an issue I wonder if there will be a way to close any gaps and fix them in place.

As painful as the hat is, it is still not as big a fail as the DX08 Joker hat. That is still the biggest hat fail in the 1/6 world as far as I am concerned.

That's a wonder to see...

You don't happen to have the old Gandalf to be able to compare this new one to?

Nope, I was going to find one on eBay or One Sixth Republic for the collection. I made an auction bid or two and didn’t win the figure. But then Crown series Gandalf was announced so I held off and watched this forum like a hawk.

explain me please

It?s awful...the proportions are just way off so instead of being the kind of wider brimmed hat that Joker wears in the movie it looks more like a the type of hat that guys wore in offices in the 1940s. Not at all like what is worn in the movie. I?ve never understood how Hot Toys could have created such an inaccurate accessory. I would love to pose my figure in the hat but have to leave it in the box.
