This could be a case where Hot Toys had a prototype for awhile and decided to release it without any update/upgrade to it.

If it were 2018, I think this would have gone over a lot better.

Demanding for better only works if you know there's going to be another Mace Windu. With Hot Toys pivoting back to Star Wars, that might very well happen, but it's not a guarantee. And even if there is, there's no guarantee it happens any time soon.

How many people wanted more OT, but ended up passing on Lando because it wasn't the version they wanted, or they found something wrong with the sculpt? There's no sign another Lando will show up any time soon, if ever.

At the end of the day, I'm hoping the photos are just bad on this one and it'll look better in hand, but I'm keeping my order because Mace Windu is my favorite Jedi behind Kanan Jarrus, and I want a figure of him on my shelf. I've had any empty spot for years that's been waiting for him.

I don't think you're gonna get some miraculous change of opinion from the in hand experience. The sculpt is what it.. isn't.

If you're buying this in hopes that you'll be able to wear blinders to the blatent inaccurate sculpt and be OK with it, I get it. But I don't see how.

Without the SLJ likeness, it's gonna be a headless Jedi council member for me until a custom comes along. Of which I have zero doubt will be coming.

It's Master Windu. He'll get a custom to fix this nonsense. Count on it. Let's be honest, we're buying this for the base, with the intent of replacing the sculpt.

This is really frustrating. Because mace is pretty much a must have for any prequel era collection. But this....this headsculpt....one of the worst likenesses. It doesnt look like SLJ

As evidenced by the recent Maul and some other figures it seems like they don't always knock a sculpt out of the park the first time. Which gives them reason to release a 2.0. So I'd say we may get a better ROTS head sculpt sometime down the line.
Good point. Might be another 4+ years but they could do it. Actually...it didnt take that long for ahsoka did it?

That's a gamble I'm not willing to take, tho. This particular character should have been an easy sale for HT. Waitlisted months ago. It's still available...

What is so wild about this is that they nailed the Nick Fury sculpt long ago. How'd they mess this one up so bad? For the record, I still think it'll look like Mace Windu on the shelf at viewing distance. Ok, maybe it's a "hood up" AND "bottom Detolf shelf" figure though :)

My opinion is that there are certain characters (Luke, Obi-Wan) that they seemingly assume will sell regardless of likeness.

This has been proven time and time again, with the two characters I mentioned above that have releases that look NOTHING like the actor playing them. (Luke has Mando, Obi-Wan has TLJ - THAT'S IT)

Slap a shitey sculpt on a Luke figure and watch it sell just because it's an officially licensed figure.

And it generally DOES sell. Hasbro does this and has done it for a decade, now.

I'm shocked this approach didn't work for Windu, tbh.

Not flexing, not saying you’re inferior. Just getting this outta the way in case my reply is misinterpreted in any way as inflammatory 😅

I’ve been collecting long enough that if a figure looks ****ty like this Mass Windy, I just won’t get it. I’ve owned SS Mace since it came out. But it’s been in storage for many years. And we’ve reached a point where 1/6 figures and their portraits have made so many strides that in a way, I can consider my collection is lacking a PROPER mace windu.

And this ain’t it. So my collection will continue to be mace-less. I’ve put up with HT’s BS long enough that I won’t be rewarding them for a mediocre, sub par, trash fire.

You’re getting it, cool. Though I wish you’d had spent the money on something far more deserving. Not giving your money to HT will send them a message saying ‘we want better’.

Yeah, have to agree with you there. That Farmboy Luke sculpt remains one of their worst.

Dude then just build your own in that case. I’m sure it’ll be much cheaper and a better alternative.

You’re not wrong. FOMO is the ultimate wallet killer. Then when you slap a “oh only 3000+ units available and a PO window of 3 hours…this is a MUST HAVE!!”, it’s easy to see how HT keeps getting away with this crap 😆.

Huh? Did you sculpt this yourself or something? I am still getting it and think it'll look fine at a viewing distance. Was making light of the fact that it might need some shadowing...

We're in 2024 HT. They've nailed the the tailoring for the most part. It's high time they sell what they solicit. Idc what the item discription claims.

My eyes don't lie to me.

If you claim you're using that likeness, the sculpt should and will/won't show it.

This simply isn't gonna get a pass from the community anymore, imo. Especially with InArt showing what can be done.

These things ain't cheap. You've got a customer base with funds ready to throw at you.

Explain it to me..
